Family room update
Comments (39)Hi GW friends, Thanks so much for all your wonderful suggestions and for taking time in your busy schedule to help me in my FR dilemma. So, as popular vote indicates, I'll leave the bookcases stained, put the flat tv where the old is and paint the FR with the same color as the kitchen (Olive branch). Now, talking about sitting arrangement, I do feel it is a little crowded eventhought it works when we are all together watching movies (we are a family of 5). Do you think I should remove the loveseat (next to the piano) and move the priano under the picture arrangement? (more to the center of the wall)? Or do you suggest other arrangement? the kids do like to lay down on the loveseat and watch tv from there because it is closer to the monitor. Or I could move the larger sofa to that wall, move the piano in front of the windows but where do I put the two chairs? (they are recliners so they need room to puch back). Pam-md: I'll take pictures of the window treatment and the thick wooden rod they are hanged from. I was lucky that my aunt came to USA for vacation and made the window treatments for me. She's is a skilled seamstress in Peru and when I mentioned to her how much it would cost me to have someone do the w. treatments for me, she offered to make them. I paid her but not as much as I was charged and she was very happy because it more than cover the cost of the trip. My neighbor across the street liked her work so much that she hired my aunt to do her window treatment in her living room and my neighbor's friend also hired her to do hers. So, my aunt was happy, she went back home with good cash. And the best part is that she made them each in about a week.!Sorry for the long story :)...See MoreFamily Room-Updates w/ Pics
Comments (29)Hi- To answer a few questions... Declansmom-I will try removing that vase on the right and place the larger coral...thanks for that suggestion! I think I will try to order the coral pillow...I actually have 2 of the darker cushions & I think colours are similiar. I also agree that mirrored doors will be too much...and I don't really want to see our reflections when watching TV:) kaisermust-The lamp on the side table was from Pottery Barn. Not sure if they still have these, but maybe you'd have some luck checking on ebay if not available in-store. (great concept-the 'top'portion of the lamp can be removing, just leaving a vase underneath) The other little ceramic lamp/light was purchased from a local home decor store. (I live just outside of TOronto) I think it was made by Abbott. You can't see the detail in the pics, but it has cut-out design that gives a very soft glow. abbottcollection.com (giftware wholesaler based in Toronto The table in that hall is now replaced w/ the 3 shelves. The light on the table was another purchase from a few years ago...another little store here in TO. kiko-Thanks for posting that picture! I love, love those chairs with the orange throws! Roseabbey/kiko-I think I'm going to try to find another home for the topiaries/urns. Although I do like the splash of green, I think I've decided that I'm not big on them in front of the cabinets. Once I add in some artwork, it may just provide that extra hit of colour that is needed. (will be a couple of weeks before I receive my framed prints back...I can post another picture at that time) Next project...think I might take on painting the spindles a creamy white.(lead up to 3rd floor and down to main floor..ugh! Lots to do) Thanks again everyone for the nice comments! Lisa...See More90s Family Room Update
Comments (16)Thanks for all the comments and ideas. The wood is very high quality and nicely done. So, I am a bit hesitant to paint over all of it! White curtains is a good idea to add some freshness and texture to the space. I’m not sure how we’d do that over the woodwork. Wallpaper in the entry is also an interesting idea. That could pretty. We definitely need to change the entryway light fixture! I’ll consider some of those some of those rug options. We have three little kids, so white probably won’t work....See MoreFamily Room Update help
Comments (1)Here's a layout for your room using your existing furniture. That seafoam green on your walls is not deep enough. Look to the pattern on your lounge chair for a better deeper olive color. Center your sideboard and mirror directly under your coffered ceiling for better placement....See MoreYayagal
