Jade plant: what's this disorder?

A dozen or so leaves all of a sudden came down with this weird condition. They don't wither and die.

I cut them off just now, but many others are still on plant. Others are dark green. Does anybody know what's causing this? I don't over water that I can tell. All the leaves are very firm. The soil seems almost too dry. I keep it indoors near a West facing window. Thanks!

It could possibly be a virus or nutritional deficiency (or I could be way off and it's something else entirely). Do you fertilize it regularly? Hopefully one of the jade experts will see this and chime in.

This is strange:). I think it's probably environmental issues.

Granted even with the mind set of the entire forum it doesn't make it right to suggest conflicting label following suggestions. Many ways of doing things including irradicating mites If and when I ever have a mite problem I also have complete and total confidence that a jade will re-grow when I prune away a mite infestation while I monitor it for the potentual of more mites When I want to know what label I should follow and what label I shouldn't follow then I'll have a problem.

Hi Leah, The black spots look like scale insects to me...I would buy some insecticidal soap and give your plants a thorough soaking. The brown spots look like normal wear n tear from the outdoors...I wouldn't sweat it. I have seen similar spots on jades that I have overwatered...the rot manifests as dropping leaves and sections on leaves rotting and turning brown. However my spots had more regular, smooth edges. If you're concerned then you can repot in a well-draining mix in a well-draining pot. I prefer terra cotta because I tend to overwater. Great looking plants!

The white dots are salt deposits left behind when sap that makes its way to the leaf surface evaporates. ..... not sure what caused the brown, crusty patches on the epidermis. It could be any number of things: sunburn (photo-oxidation), something phytotoxic landing on the leaves (like hair spray or mist from a spray room deodorizer), air pollution (smokers in the house?), over-watering/oedema, a cleaning agent that might have been used to remove dust from leaves ....... Not the cause if the leaf issue, but it needs more light than a west facing window provides in my opinion.....hence the droopy branches and etiolation.

The brown patch on an edge makes me think of the possibility of oedema, and Gill is right, it doesn't look as if it has enough light either. I think you should check the drainage in the pot, the soil can look dry and yet there could be some undrained water in there.
