Few random Aloe shots in fall
Comments (6)EXTRAORDINARY! Exceptional photographs of terrific plants. Your Aloe excelsa is so attractive that I feel compelled to find one. I am drawn towards that massive plant by a force more powerful than gravity. Help me, I'm falling! It is an aptly named Aloe. Aloe magnifica would have worked too......See MoreRandom shots for color
Comments (32)"I think Dave missed his calling and should have gone into landscape design". I have no experience in landscape design. Just common sense as to how things should look. Most people that visit my garden don't have a clue as to what's involved to achieve this look. They want to hire you to achieve the same results for them They want the look and they want in right now. That is the way things are today. It takes years to put together something unique as opposed to buying nursery plants thrown in a hole surrounded by river rock. To get it right it needs to be done by you. Every move and look has your personally in it. A lot of times you don't get it right the first time and as things evolve tear outs and re-dos are the norm. Plant selection takes time, sometimes years, to fine the right look you are after. Add rock, bricks, flag stone to tie it together and all of a sudden you look back and 10 years have gone by. I should have taken notes day by day as this thing developed. A wealth of knowledge transferred to paper on how to succeed in something you know nothing about. It's been interesting and as I look out the window I am at peace looking at all of Gods plants. The possibilities are endless for the garden of your dreams with all the plant material out there. Go for it and do it yourself. Dave...See Moregarden shots just for fun...

Comments (12)Too, too cute! During the week following the blizzard our county was having trouble clearing sidewalks, etc., and thus we used many snowdays. My principal made it to school as did several teachers who planned to work in their classrooms. My boss e-mailed me to say she knew our school was prime bluebird habitat, that we provided great housing and food occasionally. What she didn't know, she wrote, was that I was allowing the blues access to the school building itself. Apparently one of the teachers encountered a male bluebird in a hallway and several people had to help him find his way back outside. I told my boss that things would be fine as long as he didn't figure out how to open the fridge to get his own mealworms and suet!!!! It did make me worry a bit about how he got in . . . I certainly don't want him to get trapped without food and water, but others suspect he came in through a door that was propped open during a delivery. Too funny. The whole staff now jokes about how I allow the blues the run of the building and that they hold parties on the weekends! Honestly, I wouldn't doubt the party idea. Kathy...See Moreceleste/NH
