Mystery Rose from RVR
Comments (3)peachiekean, Rogue Valley Roses has an offer going that if you order 4 roses from them you can choose one more rose for free from a free-rose list and in addition to that they give you a mystery rose, which is a rose where they lost the label of. I think that is how you where ending up with it :-)! A friend of mine and I ordered from them, too, lately and we got a nice strong specimen of Mme. Caroline Testout as the free rose and a mystery rose. I got to keep Mme. Caroline Testout (yay!) and my friend took the mystery rose. We are both determined to identify it. I think this is really fun! I also feel it is a smart business move of RVR ;-)! I intend to post pictures here on this forum to ask for identification help, if my friend and I can't figure out what it is. In our case just looking at the band as it is right now, I would say we got and Hybrid Tea. Comments (3)The only one's I've gotten a decent feel for are #1 & #2. #1 took off the moment I put it in the ground, and has been growing like crazy...but no rebloom and I recall it having a traditional rose scent. #2 has been in the ground the same amount of time, but has hardly grown, it has however bloomed 3 times this summer (although only 1 or 2 blossums at a time....not much scent either......See MoreHelp identifying 2 RVR mystery roses
Comments (6)The two roses have opened up a bit more. These pictures might help identify them better? Rose 1 (no scent, 2" bloom, white with pink edges) Rose 2 (Very strong scent similar to double delight, 2-3 inch bloom, purply) Also, I'd like to add this one to identify, which is another from RVR: Rose 3 (no scent, 1.5" bloom, apricot) Thank you for any help!...See MoreMy Mystery Rose from RVR is finally blooming!
Comments (55)Lisa, mine is definitely not true red either. It does remind me of your photos a lot. I can take some upclose photos of the foliage for you tonight if it would be helpful. I do believe they are very heavily mossed. Last year was the first year it bloomed and I was bombarded with work and missed a lot of the blooming but I did snap that photo of it. Right as it bloomed I decided to tie the canes to the arbor you see because it was just draped along the ground. I do vaguely remember them fading to a bit of a purple, though I don't have a photo of it. I think it will look much nicer this year. I do remember it blooming in clusters a bit. I will make sure to take photos of it this year. It's a wonderful rose, if yours is HM you will continue to enjoy it!...See Moreingrid_vc so. CA zone 9
