Update on America Range Hybrid French door double oven.

It took almost a year and three different ovens installed before we got a working oven. No repairmen would work on the oven due to its weight or their lack of knowledge.

Within 2 months, I figured out why the lower electric oven was burning everything on the top while the middle was uncooked. No matter which rack I used, cakes or bread or anything burned on the top, but wasn't completely cooked on the inside. Sometimes the bottom was burned too. Emails to A.R. started again, but I gave up after no response. So the electric oven came from the factory unusable in 2013.

Now it is 2017, and I am having trouble with the gas oven again. After the oven has ignited and has been on for a while, it starts making huffing or whooshing noises that continue for 5-25 minutes. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. I found a video on YouTube with the same issue. From 0:56 to the end of the video really shows the problem.

So I obviously gave up trying to get A.R. to fix the electric oven. Now since the gas oven is having problems and the electric oven burns everything because the top element doesn't shut off after it has preheated, I have no working oven. So now, I am back to finding a repairman again. I called A.R. today and they gave me the same companies that could not work on it the last time. I have kept all emails and names so I know who could not work on it the last time.

After 4 years, they are doing the same old thing. This is a $7,000.00 lesson to learn.

I am curious to know about any other A.R. owners updates. I also would like to know if they have heard the whooshing noises from their gas ovens and how they were fixed (which parts, etc.) and what was done about the electric ovens upper element and how they were fixed.

There won't be many reviews of the Benchmark series because they didn't come out very long ago. I do know at least one person on this forum has one though, and they love it. Cooktop: To be honest I don't really like gas cooktops so I'm not too familiar with the different offerings out there. If I had to buy one I would get Bluestar or Thermador because I believe they have the best burner designs (most powerful and most even). There are other factors to consider though like grates and burner/control layout and unfortunately I think both of those have center controls. I think the best thing you can do here is go to a showroom and maybe bring your pans. Personally I prefer induction cooktops, or, if it has to be gas, a rangetop. Hood: It's a fan in a metal box. Not much to go wrong. Buy the one that you like the looks, features and price of. Stay away from the no-name, obviously made in China ones that are only available online. Dishwasher: Bosch vs. Miele is a tossup. They are both good quality, Miele slightly more so but with a price to match. Again pick the one with the looks and features you want with a price you can afford. Make sure to bring your dishes to the showroom and make sure the racks will work for you. Fridge: What type do you need? Freestanding/built in/integrated? What width? French door/single door? deirdref: Thanks for the link - I've been there already (that's how I found out the Wave touch has 3 baskets and the IQ has 2 freezer baskets). I guess I didn't pay attention to the other details like the "cool zone" and "perfect temp drawer" because I'm so focused on the freezer compartment. I'm going to have to speak to my contact at Electrolux (she said I can call her anytime) again and double check on the configuration of both freezers. If the specs say they have the same volume, I wonder if she was wrong when she told me the wave touch was configured differently in the freezer to give it more room than the IQ model. I'd love to see them both side by side. The rebate we got was not with Sears - it was through Electrolux so anyone could apply for it no matter where they buy their appliances as long as it is within the time period that Electrolux stated on the rebate form. Didn't the store you bought it at tell you? With the first offer, you had to buy before June 12th and the second rebate offer was between June 13th or 15th until the 30th. I qualified for the second and just mailed in my form to Electrolux (I had until August 10th to mail it but the purchase date had to be between the dates I mentioned). I also got a better price than what Sears was offering becuase I went to other several stores and Sears did a price match. When did you purchase your appliances and how many did you buy?

Update on my double electric AR french door ovens: After less than a year with the ovens and suffering through a variety of problems, which were all addressed by AR in a somewhat timely fashion...my ovens were pulled out and replaced with new ones. All paid for by AR. We had a similar issue with the 50 amp v 60 amps. Their printed installation material says 50amps are needed but actually the company in an email to me said 60amps. Exhausted from the back and forth with the company, I ended up paying the electrician to come and change the breaker when the new ovens were installed. Anyway...here's the scoop. I've had the new ovens now for nearly a year and like them very much BUT they only seem to work when on the Convection setting. I cannot get a good bake on anything when using just Bake. Don't know why. I've come to terms with this; it's working for me. Warning: you canNOT change from Bake to Convection or vice a versa without the top element coming on and BURNING whatever you're baking. Essentially, when you change a setting, the oven thinks you're restarting and that super-hot top element comes on. So make a decision straight off on how you're baking and stick with it, otherwise if you change while baking all will be burnt. Trust me on this. Yes, the ovens are noisy. Yes, the French doors are wonderful. No, the knobs do not get hot. I have mine on for hours. I do have stone on the bottom racks this is a permanent feature. Yes, I rotate pans. A lot of info. Let me know if you have any other questions. Do I recommend? I need to think about that.

I just got a new BlueStar range top (which I love) and wall oven (30" electric with french doors)... which I would like to love but from the moment you turn it on there is a very noisy blower which stays on (separate from the convection fan: tek support guy says this fan is to cool the cabinet and the electronics) and stays on until the unit is cool (about an hour after use). The oven is in a new construction 3-shipping container project and the kitchen is in one end of a container and the dining room is the other end. The oven can't stay as is and BlueStar tek support doesn't recommend using fire retardant acoustic foam (which is anyhow toxic) even outside of the encasing 1/2" plywood cabinet. Looking for experiences by others and for suggestions for hi-end ovens that do not have noise issues. Any thoughts?
