Day 4 Box Challenge - We're on a roll!
Comments (11)We too are on the tags for our garbage. Paying by the bag sure makes me stop and think of what all can be given to a good charity, recycled, and even composted. I also make sure I'm getting my 'bag's cost' worth too. Yesterday I was needing something quick and bigger to really fill my bag before taking it off. I finally got rid of an old ski tube that had been in the basement and unused for probably 15 years. It had a small leak when it went down there, but over the years the plastic became quite brittle and thus useless. When I dropped off my bag and and recycles (at the corner drop off point on Tues between 3-7PM) I asked the fella working there if he knew of anyone who welcomed scrap metal, as they don't take it at the corner. I got the name and number of a local fella so now I can gather together all my metal stuff/junk, and either deliver it to him, or he will come and get it. It's not much, but it needs gone and I really don't want to send it to the landfill, besides having to pay to send it there. Yes, I'm feeling a bit refreshed. I'm not sure what today's challenge is going to be, but will be reading all the accomplishments everyone has made. Mcpeg, you have us 'pumped'. Sue...See MoreWe lost our Mojo
Comments (22)What gorgeous boys! "Mojo" -- what a great name. I think I'd have been a "softie," too! My sympathies. And I've written this before, but I truly believe this: It really is a blessing for a pet to go quickly. I didn't have to make any decisions the first time this happened, and I hope I never have to for my current one....See MoreWe're getting a dog for 4 days!
Comments (14)Judy, good to see you!! Yes, we lost Dakota the day after Thanksgiving last year. Her birthday was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, she was 8 years old. She had started acting strange, mostly not eating but it wasnt unusual for her to do this every now and then. I took her to the vet when I noticed her stool had some blood. Her vet ran some tests. Her liver levels were slightly elevated. By the night before Thanksgiving (Wed night), she was pretty lethargic and her vet was now out of town for the holiday so I took her to the emergency clinic. They did an xray and didn't see a whole lot so they wanted to do an ultrasound so they could see more so they called someone in on Thanksgiving day to do the ultrasound. They found a mass but couldn't tell what it was so they wanted to biopsy it. I went and saw her Thursday night and I knew in my heart something was seriously wrong. She came up to me, rested her head on my shoulder for about 30 seconds then walked away. She didnt want me to touch her or cuddle her. I was devastated. I was leaving for Disneyland the next morning. I visited with her for a long time. The next morning, they called me when I was at the airport and said they wanted to do surgery because they wanted to remove the mass. They did the surgery and it turned out the mass was an enlarged lymph node but when they were in there, her liver looked bad. They sent the mass and a liver sample to the lab but the results wouldnt be back until Monday. She passed away on her own Friday evening. I was at Disneyland and have never been so devastated in my entire life. I am crying as I type this, I can hardly see the screen. I know now that when I saw her Thursday night and she put her head on my shoulder, she was saying goodbye to me. I will hold that memory with me until the day I die. The pathology report came back Monday and it showed she had lymphoma - cancer. She died from liver failure caused by the cancer. She went from being totally fine to dead in 4 days. It was a shock. I wasn't prepared for it at all. I'm still devastated and I dont think I'll ever get over her. I miss her more than I can put into words....See MoreWe lost our lease, everything must go!….
Comments (16)Your trees are so beautiful, but alas I am on the other coast. On my first trip to the east, I was at a conference in Philadelphia. I took the train from there to see a friend in Boston. A person I met on the train, when I said I thought I'd go to Boston since I was so close said, "only someone from the west would think Philadelphia and Boston are anywhere near each other."...See Moretropicbreezent
