We lost our Mojo

April 23, 1998 - July 7,2012

He was DD's white husky with the prettiest blue eyes and a loving heart. He was active and happy until he apparently just went to sleep and died, at age 14. He went as gently as he lived, which is a blessing. I've been through this before with pets as dearly loved, but I can't believe how devastated I am even though I wasn't with him daily. He spent a lot of time with us when he was young (DD got him when she was 19) and he was my special friend when we visited or he visisted us (4-5 weeks a year), probably because he knew his grandmother was a soft touch for a treat. We're headed back out next week to see them, and it's going to be hard to walk into the house with him gone. He did have a wonderful life though -- I just wish all dogs could be so lucky. That's his brother, Duke, with him -- another lucky dog.

So sorry Mojomom. He was a beauty.. and lived a long and loved life. I'm glad he went peacefully in his sleep.. it's extra hard for us to have to make the decision of when it's time.

Oh what a gorgeous dog, truly a blessing when they go peacefully and naturally. It hurts the heart to lose them.

I had a beautiful blue Merle Great Dane named Mojo, he was the picture of health, solid muscle, no fat, very active and extremely friendly. He was 3years old. I went to town one day for about an hour, drove into the drive and he was not there to greet me, he was laying under his favorite tree front legs crossed like he always laid, but he was gone.
I could have died on the spot.
The vet said it could have been something catastrophic, stroke, heart, etc. Or just his time to go.

I know that pain, my deepest sympathy to all.

Maybe our Mojos will be playing together at the rainbow bridge.

Deadhead if you want to. Cut off gangly branches and branches that you don't want. Sure you might cut off next year's blooms with each branch cut off but then you can always propagate those if you so desire. It was definitely sticks. And, this morning our "Mom" returned. At least I'm convinced it's our original "Mom" as she looks identical. I'll know better when I can get some good pictures and if I can identify her. I'm pretty sure you are right as we've seen the babies bathing in the bird bath having a blast so they are still around! I was so excited to see her. And, I know we they don't have emotions, but do we really know for sure?!? :) We'll check on the other house and remove the sticks again. We've got lots of bird books and are pretty sure it is a House Wren. Plus my husband knows just about every bird, plant, tree, bug, etc. on the planet -- and probably off as well. I'm just a newbie!

Lake girl, my hugs and deepest sympathies to you. I lost my mom in 2010, but after the worst of the grief, I found her again by spending time doing the things we enjoyed together and bringing her along with me in my heart. As Mitch Albom says, when someone you love dies, you don't end your relationship with them, it's just that the relationship changes. Re decorating mojo, I think even most plants need a resting period before they can bloom again, so it is with decorating. And when you come back to it, it's with a fresh and welcoming eye. I've kind of stopped my projects too, diverting myself with the wedding veil and now a dress for myself to wear. So the creative process continues, but just in a different direction. But after 7 years of house design and 3 years of building and another year of landscaping, I think it's time. I will get back into it though via lists. I need to wander around the house and start making lists of thing, big and small, that need to get done yet. I still haven't made the drapes for the DR, and there's that small strip of wood under the door in the FR that never got painted that annoys the heck out of me, and I want to try and faux finish the grate on the stone wall by the wood stove....

Hugs and sympathy to you, PKponder. I wish dogs could live as long as the people who love them. Our DS and family have had to put down the male and female Boxers they bought as newlyweds -- both of whom our DGS knew and loved. Last year they had to euthanize the male Boxer they adopted, who was loved by *both* grandchildren for the last six years. We always had a dog when DS was growing up. Today they say that having a dog in the family is healthy for children. Neither DS nor either grandchild (12 and 6) has any allergies..so far.

What a beautiful dog. Very sad but it's the way we want all our pets to die...peacefully at home of old age.

Thanks to all of you. It was very cathartic to just post this. Here is another pic I loved of him (and all of them), at their wedding when he was 10. He and Duke were very well-behaved and were even color-coordinated for their duties as "best dogs."

I'm in tears, for you and for me and for all the others who have gone through this. But a wonderful life and a gentle passing.....that's the best we can hope our dear animals get to experience.

It is always so sad when they pass. My condolences. Our 'rescue' left us only a few weeks ago, and the spot in the family room will not be the same for some time; but she is in a good place, welcoming your mojo to the bridge.

I am sorry for you loss. Love the pictures. It is always nice to read of well loved,well cared for pets. He was lucky to have had such a good family in his his life.

My heart aches in understanding of the loss you, your daughter and her hubby are feeling, but what a comfort to know that Mojo so peacefully went home to his Creator. He sure was a beauty.

I really feel for you. We've been through this too many times with pets -- we want them to live forever, but when it's their time, they go.

It may take awhile, but you'll get through this. All my best to you and to all who loved that dear doggie.

I think I'd have been a "softie," too!
My sympathies.

And I've written this before, but I truly believe this: It really is a blessing for a pet to go quickly. I didn't have to make any decisions the first time this happened, and I hope I never have to for my current one.
