Good day, cleaning folks. Amazing how a little project can turn into a huge project. Started again with drawers where I keep "small items", until I have the time to check them to see where they belong. So happens the first place I started this morning, everything I pulled out went into the trash and recycle. Have another area in the house I want to look at today. May be an afternoon job. If not, there will be tomorrow. So happy Tuesday to each of you, and thanks for all the inspiration. Peggy, thank you again for getting us started. I would have sat around complaining, I can't go outside to exercise, have gotten lots of exercise inside and got rid of lots of things I didn't need.

I'm still unpacking. Today I'm happy I actually properly stored excess towels etc that used to have a linen closet into 2 large totes. After looking at all that I have come to the conclusion that even with visitors we have too much. As an avid gardener and DH now having a tool shop - the older stuff is getting down graded now I know what is there. Towels are great in workshops, cleaning etc. DH has some older tools that need TLC - old towels soaked in tool oil are always needed. So big points on recycle today!

Next I'm hitting some more of those boxes in the kitchen area. Each day I watch a hoarder show too just to keep my perspective on need vs emotion.

Okay, breaks over - I'm off!

Oh, my reward is I'm making salsa shortly! Whooooo Hooooooo!

Will still sort paper work, crafts etc. Brought up tote from basement, with legal papers, but after 56 years of marriage, guess I can throw some away--(already sorted once).

Didn't get up early, only got some done ... but not a box anywhere near filled.

Then I left for the library ... where I am now.

Wanna see about three folks late in the afternoon/early evening, and not home till about 9.

Garbage day tomorrow ... so that should provide some more incentive to get a box out there early.

(Should I admit that I don't have any garbage tags [$1.75/bag]... so they wouldn't take it, anyway?).

Let's not forget - each midnight means one less day of life ahead.

No, these are kitchen drawers ... not *my* drawers ...

... well, actually they are the landlord's drawers, when one gets right down to it!

I think that he has fewer "drawers" than I do, though ... when one gets right down to it: I got a bunch more at Christmas.

Marie - sorting through old papers can sometimes be enough in itself. Still counts as a job done!

OJ congrats on getting that mouse. Nice to know you have a cat on the job too. You don't have to 'fill' any particular box - but getting some stuff sorted this week is getting ahead and something to do on rotten days.

Like previously said, if you find yourself sitting too much - this is a great opportunity to get moving. Feel better through accomplishment. No matter how small or large we are all winners.

We'd love to hear more of your activities - group effort with space for more friends to join. Any silent lurkers can also participate.

How did your day go?

feeling good about everything that went out of the house this morning. This afternoon, spent time under a kitchen cabinet , that job was just making it neat. Will give thought to where I will start tomorrow. Hope everyone had a really great day.

Well, I don't have boxes to actually go through, but am trying to go through everything, from one end of this small house to the other (plus the basement), getting rid of everything that is not used, liked, or needed.

Trash day here is on Tues, and we pay by the bag...well actually buy a 'specially labeled bag' for 75 cents, and then can stuff it full. I vowed to try and take off a bag each Tues, until things are all under control here.

Everything that is usable or of any value is being put aside for a friend who will come and get it for their church yard sale. This is week four that I have had a big full bag of 'stuff' that needed pitched. I've also been getting rid of a bunch of stuff that is recyclables...like old magazines I knew I would never look at again. Each Tues I feel so good, knowing that so much more is now gone. Today I tackled underneath 2 vanities, getting rid of old stuff, and then went to the basement to get more stuff to fill the bag. Whoo-Hoo...drawers, and a few cabinets are starting to look rather bare, and well organized.

Chemocurl you must be feeling it in the house - refreshed? We too are on the tags for our garbage. I don't mind it really since we recycle as much as possible. Church sales come in handy and are a win win situation too.

Paying by the bag sure makes me stop and think of what all can be given to a good charity, recycled, and even composted. I also make sure I'm getting my 'bag's cost' worth too. Yesterday I was needing something quick and bigger to really fill my bag before taking it off. I finally got rid of an old ski tube that had been in the basement and unused for probably 15 years. It had a small leak when it went down there, but over the years the plastic became quite brittle and thus useless.

When I dropped off my bag and and recycles (at the corner drop off point on Tues between 3-7PM) I asked the fella working there if he knew of anyone who welcomed scrap metal, as they don't take it at the corner. I got the name and number of a local fella so now I can gather together all my metal stuff/junk, and either deliver it to him, or he will come and get it. It's not much, but it needs gone and I really don't want to send it to the landfill, besides having to pay to send it there.

Yes, I'm feeling a bit refreshed.

I'm not sure what today's challenge is going to be, but will be reading all the accomplishments everyone has made. Mcpeg, you have us 'pumped'.
