Need help with living room and dining room paint color
Comments (5)Do all the furniture pieces and carpet stay in the room? If so, take a look at Bittersweet Stem by Sherwin Williams. What don't you like about the colors you sampled?...See Moreneed help with living room layout plz help!
Comments (10)Sheer curtains for the windows. Layout will be tricky because of the FP and the heater/ radiator. I think we’re looking at a couch on the wall with that radiator. Maybe a console behind it to block the box. Or a couch lengthwise. Facing the door. A rug, coffee table, maybe a bench or some chairs. Start with what you can. Very charming home. Love it...See MoreNeed help with living room/dining room funiture design
Comments (9)Living room dining room combos make me really happy. How many in your household?Do you eat at this table nightly or most commonly eat in the kitchen? Do you sit at this table and do other things like projects, kids with homework, gather with friends? Do you have another living area in this house that you chill out in or is the seating in this room going to be the makn ha g out space in your home? Who will sit here and when, what time of day, to read, be with guests, hang out? I’d love to see the table turned 90 degrees so it is parallel to the window and living in that area next to and along side the window. It just makes sense to me for the layout and lines of this room. It may or may not make sense though for who uses this space and when. Main question, do you want the daylight and view from the window to be enjoyed as a table space or sofa space? The buffet /cabinet is a great piece but looks super bad next to the wood where it is currently located. I’d put it on the long white wall near where your desk is currently located and use it as a visual bridge between you window/dining area and a sitting area where your sofa is currently located. Light fixture is fine where it is do not use it to determine furniture zones. Stone area is a lot of look. Don’t put furniture or other things over there. Just give it space to be what it is. Nice that you dont need desk, piano, or TV in here....See MoreUnimaginative person needs help with living room furniture placement
Comments (25)I am so touched that you all have taken the time to give me so much help, thank you so much!!! (And thank you to my husband for helping me move the furniture to try out all the suggestions this evening.) Some specific replies, in order: Jenny, I tried the arrangement as you described and like it, it has the advantage of having a nice view out the window from the loveseat, and creating a cozier conversational area. The bench could go in front of the window. I've moved it temporarily to the foot of my bed where it is working well. (I have a different bench in the front hall.) Mytwo cents, I also tried the loveseat in front of the window and it looks better than I expected. Thank you for the diagram, so helpful. I'm going to add a photo of my sofa/loveseat fabric, and of the area rug. I still like the chair you sent me a link to, I prefer the lighter blue but think maybe the navy would look better with the current furniture and rug? I really like the window treatment however, though there is a bit of clutter, I adore the view out my window so don't want to block it. I'll add a photo. The hanging basket had to be shorn recently so isn't at its best yet but overall it's a lovely view. There is no pink in the area rug, just blues and greens and a cream background. The wall color is Sherwin Williams Liveable Green 6176. I like the idea of a blue coffee table. And I love all the pillows, I definitely agree they would pull in the painting (which I really like, too), as well as the carpet and walls, perfect choices, thank you so much. maymay99, I am open to another color, do you have a suggestion? I use blue and green in my kitchen and attached family room, like this room, with the addition of touches of yellow and a bit of pink. I was going for a more serene look in the living room, just blue and green, but am open to adding another color. auntthelma, if the loveseat is under the window, it does not block the entrance to the room on the north wall as I thought it would, there is room. And I agree about the sofa being more welcoming if it faces the main room entrance. simplynatural, thank you so much for taking the time to do the diagrams, that is SO helpful, both for furniture placement and to give me an idea of what else the room needs. We tried all the arrangements. And yes, I do still want to use that mirror (thanks for making that connection), it is beautiful, however, my husband just told me it may be too heavy to hang as the wall studs are not where they'd need to be. (I'm buying the mirror from a friend and can return it if we can't make it work.) #1 I like the idea of ottomans in the center and it is not a problem to not have a direct path to the door on the west wall, that is not a path that is normally used. (The kitchen is on the other side of the door and there is a separate, more direct way to access the kitchen.) The bookcases are a great idea, my husband and I both like that. #2 The loveseat moved closer to the sofa is cosier. I like mirrors used vertically but not sure it would work in this room, I'll have to look at it for awhile. #3 The loveseat in front of the window works a lot better than I thought it would, definitely a possibility. #4 Now that I've pictured round ottomans, that's what I want! Plus they would be extra seating. I do love my coffee table though and it works well in #2. All the diagrams and specific suggestions have been so helpful to me, thank you all again so much, you are all so kind. And I welcome any more thoughts or suggestions. I'm adding photos of my sofa and loveseat fabric, the area rug, the view out the window on the east wall, and the mirror that I love but am now not sure I can use. (And I'm wondering if it's a little fancy for the room? Thoughts?)...See Morecawaps
