The Early Birds Might Be Crowding Out the Bees | Smart News | Smithsonian - A new study published in the journal Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology suggests that bird nest building during early Spring could make it harder for species that breed later in the year—like bees—to find a place to live.

Hmmm.....I don't quite get that article. What kind of bees are they talking about? Seems to me that birds and bees require different nesting areas, and can also live closely in harmony. But....all the natural problems in the world do seem to stem from humans. :( I have quite a bit of property (woods/field), so maybe I just don't understand, since perhaps many people only have 1 tree and 1 bush in their yards.......

I know that as far as birds go, Swainson's hawks can have trouble finding nesting sites since by the time they arrive from Argentina in the spring, most spots are taken by red tails and such. They often are forced to nest on less desirable spots like power poles which can be very dangerous and also puts them at risk for being destroyed as a "nuisance" or a "hazard."

Bees though, I am a little surprised. Many of our native bees, including bumble bees, arw ground nesting, and the rest typically utilize small cavities. Neither would be affected by nesting birds that I could imagine.

At 79 dollars apiece they not cheap but Guardian birdhouse is best I've found. Its small bird house in shape 2 light on each each side one flashes blue other flashes red ramdonily. Give bird the feeling they being watched. In daytime lights light flash is low in power at night more noticeable. mounting this up high be best for what you trying to do lets say half tree height. My sourse for this solarpowered bird guard was local feed and hardware store don't have online sourse. Birds stop visting area where one these are set up so take awhile to work. 6 months ago I check with some people that been using bird guard for 4 years they said worked for them. Animals and birds don't like to be watch.

Sorry for spelling Halloween wrong I feel like a goofball. I think that if times were better it would not have gone over so well but with people pinching pennies it was more welcome to some, my best friend who makes good money told me I was strange lol. But in the same conversation she told me she was sure that there was a real homeless couple that came to her house for candy. And if the economy does't get better glib I bet I will be able to get rid of all 100 pounds, Oh, ericwi brussels sprouts are a hard sell at anytime you should have offered cheese with them lol.. Well I have bunches of cherry tomatoes and peppers ready I guess its salsa time. :o)Deanna

I would not be too concerned about the tachycardia (rapid heart beat) which is probably all associated with your daughter's condition and being pregnant. Hopefully the amniotic fluid has increased with their treatment. If not and your wee grandchild needs to be induced, then that will be a great thing, not too premature. Tammy I wish your daughter all the very, very best - I am sure it will work out for you all and that you have a wonderful Christmas. I think too when the baby is born, your other daughter will be delighted for her sister and hopefully will look forward to an uncomplicated pregnancy and birth in the near future. She will be well monitored and of course the baby will be, especially because of previous history. Hopefully, your daughter realizing this will give her the strenght and encouragement to try again. My prayers are with you all and I know I will share your anxiousness until the wee love has been born. Hugs, Pauline. Like the CD idea and I have lots of them, but my main issue is I have a large acacia tree and I live in a conservation area so it cannot be cut down!!! But all the pigeons in the county where I live perch on the branches and poop all over my patio, walk way and new garden furniture. I am really worried as I have a four year old boy and their poop is supposed to be dangerous if ingested or touched!!! Please help :-{

I just love to let my mind fantasize a bit, about what our country looked like before man got hold of it. What a perfect, balanced paradise it must have been.

I don't think we appreciate how 1 small action by use can cause many problems down the line.
