liquid dishwashing detergent - where are the suds?
Comments (49)Totally agree with you. I used to use Palmolive as it seemed "sudsier" than Dawn. But lately it is horrible and like you I have to keep add more soap and more water to get the dishes even relatively clean. For the commenter that said to "use your dishwasher" as it uses less water--many plastic, fragile and even some cookware items CANNOT be washed in the dishwasher. So you still need a hand dishwashing alternative for those items. I believe the changes are due to environmental regulations that we don't even have any idea were passed that the companies have to abide by. Or they are doing it themselves to improve their ESG scores. If that is the case I think the fact we are all using MORE soap and MORE water to get dishes clean defeats the purpose of changing formulations. I'm going to be asking several of the manufacturers exactly this. If I hear back I will share what they have to say here....See MoreWe don't 'need' detergent?
Comments (19)Guilty!!! I am one of those people who probably put too much detergent in. I am having trouble finding a happy medium. I put less, then water in wash does not feel like there is any in there, and no suds at all,and clothes do not smell as clean, so next time i add more, see few suds, but clothes feel stiff and coated. It is hard to tell if i use enough when you open the washer and see maybe 1 1/2 cups of water. When i did towels, there was no little pool of water but towels were soaked. I have pretty soft water, and have tide, borax, clorox 2, purex, liquid tide, liquid tide with bleach. used all of them, still not there yet....See MoreFL suds question
Comments (9)Here we go again....would really like to be helpful, but......... "I fill the cup to line #1 (which is the bottom line) " WHAT cup? How much are you using? Tablespoons or measuring cups would be fine....just something so a cyber-stranger can tell how much you're talking about. "Whirlpool Duet FL " What year? What model? Please? They've made them in a number of different sizes/configurations. "Normal size load" Would appreciate weight or cubic feet or something what would allow a cyber-stranger to have some clue as to what "normal size" means to you. For example, if you have a 3.8cf machine and say you load it loosely to the top without stuffing/compression, I can tell you've got maybe 18 lbs. or so of fabric in there.....but you've got to give us something, don'cha think? "Warm wash/Cold rinse" Do you know what the actual temperatures are or are you just setting the dial to "warm" and "cold" and walking away ? The difference between what people actually have and what they think they have can be HUGE. Do you know what your water quality is....as in soft or some degree of hardness? "Does this mean I'm using too much detergent?" Probably. How long have you owned the machine? Could be residual left in the clothes, too....See MoreWhat's the Optimum FL Suds Level?
Comments (94)George, no, usually no where near a heavy soil. In the final rinse suds are gone, so all is good on that front. I'm going back to 3 Tbps max as I see no difference in cleaning power. Mama, I have hard water but it's on the lower end. New water softener takes care of all of the worries. Also, only use dryer sheets for softening. I'm wondering since the Elux 617 premixes very well if that's preventing heavy suds....See Morerococogurl
