How does this go? I am trying to contact Rose Pekelnicky, Cookie8, Idstarr, and chisue.

The above ladies have commented on my question about who lives near any of the Great Lakes. Well, the two below have too, but I have their addresses...

SOOOOOOOOOO, how can I contact people through Houzz? Someone please enlighten me.

I have Tami OH's email address, and countrycottageklutz's email address.

Only 3 more nights in my own bed... and the adventure begins! ;)

Two of those named have enabled messaging via the website.

You should first go to your own home page "Your Houzz" and edit your profile to say yes to "send me a message when someone messages me." That will make the "Message" link appear on your home page, when someone want to send YOU a message.

Next, start with the last name you listed. Find a comment she's made by searching for her name using the "Search in Gardenweb" feature that appears at the top of the page. When you find a posting, click on the name, then click a second time when the name appears in a popup box. You'll be taken to the user's Gardenweb "Home Page", at the far right hand side at the top, there's a link labeled "Message".

Click on that, send a message. If the person monitors the email address they've give to the site, they'll get the message and respond to you the same way.

Delete the cookies for GW and Houzz and sign in again. I find that if I use a bookmark for one of the forums that is uninteresting to Houzz, like this one, as my entry point, I can reach other GW forums without the Houzz redirect, as long as I'm already signed in.

Annnnnd it just did it again. If I post without photos in the original post it goes through. When I go back to add photos it gets stuck. I can't load photos in a comment either. ETA - WTH Houzz, two out of the six photos showed up and now they're gone. Finally worked.

I've been here pretty much since the beginning.....1996? Before that, there were some Usenet boards but the Internet was nothing like it is now and was not nearly as heavily used or accessed. I admit this site is cumbersome and still has its fair share of kinks to work out. And a lot of it has to do with how you enter and what devices you use to access. But it is by far the most detailed and comprehensive website of its type. IMO, it is well worth figuring out your best way of accessing the wealth of info contained here and the sense of community that is still generated by many of the forums and that cannot be matched by any other similar website or social media platform!!

Houzz suddenly not working through Firefox

I seldom use Chrome (except here at work), but at home, facebook will not work well on Firefox any more, and so I have to use Chrome. However, when using Chrome at work, it changes my default search engine to "MyWay" or something like that, and I have to type google in the address bar, even though that is my home page. At home I have Windows 10, and at work I am using the ancient Windows XP! Some people at work have upgraded to Windows 7, but my computer here is too old for that upgrade. Since I'm part time, I guess they decided that I did not need it, but I do need a newer computer to run a newer version of AutoCAD. I installed AutoCAD12, but it is very slow, and so I generally go back to AutoCAD5 but cannot open files that others have saved in AC12. I keep my history in Chrome fairly clear all the time at work. I should probably clear my history in Firefox at home. This would have been a good topic to cross-post on the computer forum.
