don't like the merge much. I always found GW folks very helpful while Houzz is full of designers and builders modeling their wares (eye candy) and who often have no data on the items in the photos - you see lots of remarks such as "the owners bought it, I didn't keep the file, I don't recall but you could look at color X which is similar, we built that custom so contact us and we'll tell you how many thousands it will cost to have one just like it - - etc" or in most cases don't even bother to answer. I think if they post a photo to advertise themselves they should be required to list the appliances, main fixtures, paint color, and things like countertops that were used. That would reduce a lot of questions on Houzz and make the photos more useful. I depend on the knowledgeable people on GW who actually have experience with these things for reviews and opinions. A bunch of user names got changed in the merge which was not helpful. I'm attempting to use the forums again and I hope it improves. Chickadee I hope your health continues to improve. Welcome back!

We all hate it. Many of us will go away, perhaps re-form elsewhere. Houzz won't care. They are really after the Home Forums anyway. We are just the dust that came along with them. Also gardeners tend to be somewhat older. Most people turn to gardening after they get their kids into school or even out of the house. The high tech world is not terribly interested in people over 45. Just ask a software engineer who got laid off in the Great Recession and tried to find a new job. By the way, thanks for posting the message, Kippy. I did make it back after all as you can see. I am by training a librarian and I supported library databases for many years, so if it was hard for me, I can't even imagine how hard it must be for people who did not have that kind os background.

Ellen - Are you pulling up the app to do your searching or are you going in through the mobile browser? Currently, the app is not set up to include the GW forums, but it's on the to-do list. So, I would suggest using your mobile browser and making sure that you bookmark http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/cooking . Once you are in the forum you can tap the 'advice' heading once you've typed in your search. I did notice the glitch that doesn't allow the search only in the Cooking forum, like it does on regular devices and tablets, so I have reported that. But, in the meantime, when I typed in '3 ingredient ice cream recipe', it did pull up the post you were hunting as one of the top results. If you do search the forum a lot from your phone, you might want to use this workaround in the meantime. If you bookmark this url on your phone - http://www.gardenweb.com/gardenweb/query/chicken-soup/topic=cooking - you can replace the words 'chicken-soup' with whatever you want your search term to be and it will pull up everything from just the Cooking forum.
