How to make crushed pepper flakes instead of powder
Comments (4)Just pulce dried pods in a food processor. Do only a few pods at a time and remove what is the right size as they get chopped up. Use a colender to sift the flakes. Anything with larger holes than a sifter will separate the flakes.Metal ones work better.Plastic ones have too much static electricity and the flakes stick to it....See Morecan I use powder and no rinse agent in Bosch dishwasher?
Comments (32)We just had our Electrolux dishwasher installed last week. It's very quiet, can't barely tell it's running. That's very important for us as our kitchen is open to the family room and both are small. But we were shocked at how wet the dishes came out. We too tried to avoid adding more chemical to our dishes so we experimented with different options on the DW and I think we've come down to an acceptable level after a few tries. First, both Electrolux and Bosch, as well as many other new models out on the market, do not have exposed heating element. It dries dishes by condensation. Water condenses on the wall of the DW and drips down to the pan. That's why glass and silver wares (which get hotter during wash cycle) dry better than plastic. We still don't use any rinse agent, just powder dishwasher detergent. Our water heater is set to the lowest temp setting. We loaded the plastic on bottom rack to avoid water dripping down to dryer dishes. When the DW is done, keep the door close for a couple of hours (to trap the moist air in so it condenses on the DW wall). Most items are dry with the exception of plastic but we're ok with it as we expect to use less and less plastic as the kids grow older. Still love our new DW as it's so quiet, no bad smell and is supposed to use much less energy than our old one....See MoreRECIPE: Will this recipe work w/ my 'lite' alterations?
Comments (7)This is from www.floridajuice.com, Linda: FDOC's gathering information on "low-carb" and "Lite" orange-flavored cocktails In the next week, the FDOC plans to begin polling consumers to find out whether they are confusing new "low-carb" orange juice cocktails with real, 100 percent pure orange juice. More than 500 people will be questioned in 10 cities about their knowledge of the new "low-carb" and "lite" orange juice cocktails on the market. The study will also look at how the beverages are presented on retailers' shelves. The FDOC wants to find out if the drinks have insufficient or misleading labeling. Many of the juice beverages use colorful pictures of oranges and orange groves despite being comprised of less than 50 percent juice. One juice cocktail uses green wording on a green background to inform consumers it's an "orange juice beverage" rather than 100 percent juice. The FDOC also wants to discover whether low-carb juice is cannibalizing sales of 100 percent pure juice. The FDOC's labeling findings, scheduled to be completed by mid-August, will be shared with the brands and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration...See MoreRECIPE: Chocolate Espresso French Toast
Comments (11)Ann T, I often eat regular french toast with just butter, no syrup or jam, etc., I think it depends on my mood. Other times I want it covered with homemade peach syrup or something similar. I always make sure the egg mixture soaks all the way through, though, and then I have to cook it long enough that it's not soggy. Thanks, Marilyn, it looks like Paul's description answered my question. I was kind of wondering if the whiter middle part just tasted like bread or if some of the flavor permeated the slice. So, I'm guessing that the chocolate outer part is strong enough in chocolate flavor to allow for the "unsoaked" middle? So, Carol, you just ate yours "dry", no fudge sauce and pecans...? Annie...See Moresooz
