Two many hardware styles in one kitchen?
Comments (6)You're right about the function on those finger pulls. They used to be used exclusively on boats and even the boatbuilders figured out there was a better way (most use pop-up buttons now). Those drawers are so small they are rarely used. Right now one is the pet medication drawer, one is for gum (yep, I have a gum drawer), one is for coasters and cocktail napkins and the other is for the corkscrew (which does get used frequently) and other bottle opener type things. The Aubrey pull looks nice your drawer there. I suppose I could consider the 3.5" ones for those drawers. They are about 4 inches high, not sure how wide, but I would guess 10-12 inches maybe. Edited to add: OK Breezy, I swear I didn't know you had glass knobs on your cabinets! I'm not a stalker, honest! Comments (7)Are you going to stain or paint your doors? I know you're trying to make the room feel homey while you're finishing things, but I think I'd wait until you get the trim up, finished and the walls painted. I like teacups idea of doing a shelf across your doors. But again I would wait and see how it all looks finished. I think the sayings are a great idea, and doing something across the top near the ceiling either using a stencil or wall words is a different look than the wording plaque in the dining area, so I think it's ok to use both. You have a large area, so you have lots of space to spread them out across. I know it's hard to live in a construction zone - I remember how frustrated I got when we redid our kitchen and ripped out soffits and a dead wall between our eating area and kitchen. But, if you make it look too nice, you'll just delay finishing it because it won't look so bad! Once your trim is up and you pick a paint color (I guess I'm assuming your going to paint something other than the white, so if I'm wrong, please excuse my comments!)the area will look so much different. Then do some wall words, and accessories. You might change your mind and not like what you pick out now when it's all done....See MoreCombining two large rugs to make one huge one?
Comments (17)Thanks again everyone for all the helpful tips! I'll stay away from Jute for sure now even though I like the look of it. Seagrass could work well for the decor but I'm concerned about one spot ruining the whole thing (pet) where a pattern can hide things better. Extra thanks for the mention of Joss & Main - their search engine for rugs is much better than all the others and prices seem good but sometimes better on Overstock and other places. Most places make you work very hard to see a size/price combo when all you want to see is the biggest sizes....See Moreone or two skylights in 12x12 livingroom
Comments (9)Make sure you know if your homeowners insurance will cover the future water damage, or how high the premiums will be with the added risk. I would bet you have less than a 20 percent chance of not having future issues, since you are starting with a roof existing, that is not constructed for them, especially. Lovely space, consider adding a whiter shade of wall paint, and a some wall sconces?...See Morea a
