What to do with new empty space - thx to new puppy
Comments (4)Thought of the new plant thing, but none of the nurseries close to home are open any more and with no vehicle it is a little difficult to get to the ones that are still selling them. I have another garden 3'x3' full- I mean full of Victoria white Salvia, Salvia Evolution, and Bonfire Salvia - would it do much damage to transplant some of them to the new empty space? Any suggestions on some perrenials I could add next year to this garden? ( the larger one)? Would like to keep some of the annuals but add a few new perrenials. Thanks so much again...See MoreHow to introduce my cats to new cat?
Comments (4)I have found the best way is to just act normally and let everyone do their thing. Monitor the cats and have a squirt bottle with water ready in order to disuade any bad behavior on anyones part. Cats seem to need to be able to spend time learning who is boss. Having one cat put another in its place is normal behavior...just make certain that a fight does not break out by being alert...good luck and kudos to your for fostering....See Moreintroducing old dog to puppy
Comments (3)Well she was rescued along with our other terrier mix (whom we lost to cancer last spring), she got along well with him But she can be aggressive with other dogs we even had a trainer come in to work on this behavior. She' better but can go after other dogs who are hanging around the outside of her fence. Our vet thinks a puppy will automatically let her be the leader and she shoudl be fine. Iv'e read we should introduce them outside her domain--I also thought maybe we should have the foster family give us a scrap of material that the puppy has laid on any ideas would be appreciated Sami...See MoreAdvice for pet t turf for new puppy’s thank
Comments (6)I can't speak to whether mulch will acutally stop her from digging, but I doubt it. When I was doing yard work (and my own digging with a shovel), my dog loved to come lay in whatever hole I had just dug in the dirt. I think it's cool and soft. So mulch might be less inviting, but she might still figure out she can dig underneath to get to the dirt. You might try searching online for how to teach a dog not to dig and/or enlist a trainer to help. Some dogs are bred to dig (like terriers) and others are just high energy and do it for fun. In general, it's key to stop them the moment they start digging and redirect that energy to some other behavior or to digging in a designated place. I have read about people putting digging boxes / sand boxes in for their dog to dig, but I haven't tried it myself. I have a 75lb white shepherd and she (mostly) respects a very low garden fence around my vegetable garden. I have trained her that she is not allowed to just hop over it or squeeze between it (though she is fully capable). She has on occasion jumped the little garden fence, but for the most part she respects it....See MoreLyban zone 4
