Japanese Maple Tree -- How to keep its height less than 6 ft?

I'm interested in Inabe Shidare Japanese Maple. Sites are saying it can grow to a maximum height of 10 ft. Though the look of the tree is what i'm after, the maximum height & spread are troubling.

Can pruning or something guarantee that i can keep the tree from exceeding a maximum height of 6 ft (and a maximum 6 ft spread) without damaging it? I want to keep the tree at its existing height and spread as shown in the photo.

Thanks.
