3 hole faucet vanity - using 1 hole faucet

I found a vanity I really like. The problem is it has 3 faucet holes in the marble top. You cannot order it without the top and it seems a shame to throw out a marble top.

I hate 2 handle faucets. They require 2 hands when often a hand is dirty. They are impractical to me.

I've come up with 2 alternatives:

-Use a one hole faucet with a plate to cover the other holes. This might look bad.

-Use 2 soap dispensers to fill the other 2 holes. One would hold hand soap and the other hand lotion or something. I am wondering if this will look odd.

Thoughts?

I say one for soap for sure. The other can be a blank plate cover. OR try do find a faucet that has a single lever control over two holes and the third hole can be lotion or blank. Not sure I explained that right. Like this faucet.

I agree. We had to special order a single hole sink for our Kohler Fairfax faucet. We had a 2 handle one before. It is SO much easier now, both for temperature adjustment and cleaning. I think it's way better for the kids too--Now I feel like they might get warm water, instead of them just using the cold handle because it's too much of a hassle to adjust the temperature! Anyway, the Fairfax isn't at all modern, but it only comes in brushed nicked, not polished nickel. We're about to do our master bath remodel--I hope I can still get a 1-hole sink! Julie

Here is my instant hot/filtered cold setup. On the ther side I have a soap dispenser. I added his after the fact in a tweaking of my kitchen (now I am planning a total redo moving the kitchen). I had the hole added to the granite later so I echoed be placement of the existing soap dispenser. It works well as you can get a cup of tea or filtered water while someone else uses the main faucet. The faucet is a Moen Arbor Motionsense which I love (other than than at the handle has come loose a bit they sent a free replacement kit of some sort which I need to fix so far just had my husband tighten it but it worked loose again). I will move both faucets to my new kitchen. I think I will put the hot/filtered at the prep sink in the new as the location makes more sense for tea/water although I also like to use the hot in some cleanup uses

What do you mean by "fit"? Are you concerned that the part of the faucet that goes down into the hole in the granite could be too big too fit? Or do you worry that the flange or base won't cover the hole? Or...? I'm perplexed why product reps can't easily look this up, as it shouldn't be difficult. I've bought a lot of plumbing components from build.com and they typically have a pdf file on the product listing page for each faucet that gives the specs and the installation manual.

We are down to these 3 i think: 1. Delta Leland, requires 1-3/8" diameter hole ($297 CDN) https://www.deltafaucet.ca/customersupport/documentation/9178-sp-dst.html?document=pd 2. Moen Brantford, requires 1-1/2" diameter hole ($391 CDN) https://www.moen.com/shared/docs/product-specifications/7185esp.pdf I think we are leaning towards the Delta. We like the 1"+ more reach on the faucet and Delta seems to get slightly better reviews or shall i say fewer 1 star reviews. I know that reviews are sometimes a crapshoot but i bought (plan to return) the Moen Kaden and the Delta Marca to see what the finish, reach, heights are of each and the Delta feels sturdier. Hope it lasts. Here's the countertop. Installed today.

The most common 3 hole vanity top typically has a 4" distance between the outer holes. This dimension is measured from the center of one hole to the center of the other, thus the term centerset. That type of hole drilling needs a 4" center set faucet which would Something like this

The other common spacing is often just called widespread, or 8" widespread. Widespread faucets look like this

If the holes on your top are drilled for a 4" centerset faucet, I think the 2 extra holes might be too close to the single hole faucet for the soap and lotion dispenser.

The plate to cover the holes is called an escutcheon. When we redid our bathroom we wanted an 8" widespread faucet but our plumber mistakenly told the fabricator we were using a 4" centerset. We didn't catch the mistake until the top was installed. I really dislike centerset faucets so the plumber offered to replace the countertop but we didn't want to waste it so we used an escutcheon and a single hole faucet instead. It's not what I preferred but it really doesn't look bad. Here's how it looks

The vanity I was looking at comes with a countertop with 8-inch counter set holes.

In that case, I think that the soap and lotion solution should work.

Now comes the question of where to place the faucet and the soap and lotion. I automatically assumed the faucet should be in the center. Then I thought that it might be confusing about which was soap, and which was lotion. Now I am thinking that you may want the faucet on the left (if you are right handed), then the soap, with the lotion on the right. Or the opposite. Lotion on the outside hole, soap in the center. Maybe make the lotion dispenser a bit larger or taller.
