why so many double posts?
Comments (10)I'm on a PC, and I get the same situation as MulchMama - you hit submit, and then there is no confirmation, or after a VERY long time I hit the submit button again, sometimes only to get a rejection saying it already posted, sometimes not and I get a double post. GW seems to be really slow (no matter what computer I use) and I think we a) get tired of waiting & hit submit again so it posts twice or b) we get an erroneous message saying it didn't post when it actually did, and so when we re-do it, it posts a second time. Dee edited to say, at least now we can edit and/or delete any double posts! This post was edited by diggerdee on Thu, Aug 29, 13 at 22:49...See MoreDon't post pics? Why or Why not? Comments (66)I am probably not going to be posting many pics when asking questions any more because I find that too many people are only looking at the pictures, NOT reading the text, and thus their responses are either directly contrary to something I've said in the text (for instance "get rid of XYZ" or "the color of ABC is wrong" when I've already said in the accompanying that I love XYZ so it's not going anywhere or that the color of ABC is really more toward mauve when it shows up as puce in the picture) or have nothing at all to do with what I'm asking. I find that intensely frustrating. I have almost no pictures of my current house because it's still in "whatta dump" stage. No paint (walls need a TON of work), short on furniture, dreadfully designed kitchen that's a perpetual mess because there's nowhere to put things... and forget outside pictures, a few weeks ago we ripped out almost every trace of vegetation outside (and will not be replacing it until next year, probably fall '09 to get the end-of-season sales) due to a honeysuckle invasion that I swear was growing by feet per day and was starting to attack the porch. I'll happily post pictures of my previous house because I think I did a pretty decent job with it. We're not on Google Maps but we're kinda-sorta on Google Earth - but the best you can get is a fuzzy whitish blob in the midst of a bunch of other fuzzy whitish blobs on a fuzzy grayish stripe. No closeups. Our town is clearly not a high priority as far as Google is concerned! WRT security - we live in a somewhat iffy neighborhood so I am one HECK of a lot more worried about the people a dozen houses down the street breaking in looking for meth money than I am about someone trying to track me down via the Internet (I Googlebate every so often just to see what's out there re: me) from half a dozen states away. I've been email-stalked and -harassed a bunch of times in my 18 years online because of my outspoken ;-) opinions and my ISPs have always been helpful in dealing with it. However, I've had meet-ups with a whole slew of people I've met online over the years, twice flying nearly cross-country to do so, and it's been grand fun....See MoreWhy can't I post again?
Comments (15)And may I second lindsey_ca's request. Please don't make yourself look like a fool by putting in needless amounts of extraneous debris. And often it's caps which again is totally unnecessary. And as I said, only makes you look like a fool. One simple space is all it takes. And the spaces usually don't even show. Or a little time between the posts. Usually if someone else posts after you, you're free to post again anyway....See MoreWhy do we have to apologize for "off topic" posts?
Comments (41)Yes, my sweet Copenhagen died just before Christmas. I think the foundering was all intertwined with his other issues. He got shaggy curly hair he didn't lose in the spring, then started losing weight. The vet was certain he had Cushing's disease, but when tested he was negative. The vet then thought perhaps a thyroid issue or other metabolic problem. He got thinner. Then I found him lying in the barnyard and he couldn't get up. I called the vet and for some dumb reason I went to the house and got a quilt to put over him so he wouldn't be cold lying in the snow. So I sat in the snow with his head on my lap and waited for the doc, kissed him and told him that it was all green pastures for him from now on. And then, with the help of Doc Gilbert, he was gone. It still seems empty without him, but when I rescued him I told him he'd be here with me until I died or he did, and so I kept that promise. Cope was 23, and I still have his big dumb friend, King, who was Dad's old buggy horse. He's 26. Sadie is 14, old for a St. Bernard and even Red Cow is 17. Ashley says I run an assisted living facility for old animals! Annie...See Morelarsi_gw
