Miele Little Giant in action, Videos :)
Comments (16)YAY Jean. Honestly, there has yet been a load that was not left gleaming, shiny, spot free, crust free, crumb free when using Somat 10. In my Miele Dishwasher, I usually use Sensor Wash or Normal...but on Bobloads I will use Pots & Pans and SaniWash.....and with the Somat 10 tabs, you'd think everything was machine polished with some kind of compound. Sparkling. Somat 10 is the bomb! I am so happy you had such good results!!!!! XOXOX...See MoreMiele Little Giant Sluice Program
Comments (17)The manual for the UK version of the Little Giant cites the UK health standards met by the sluice programs. Those standards refer to "foul laundry", which seems descriptive but not overly so :-) Oh, and the UK manual says max load 4.0 kg for sluice, so 14.3 lbs. in the US manual is a typo. There are sewage grinder pumps for house plumbing, which grind up stuff straight from the toilet. Seems to me that the Little Giant drain pump doesn't have to work quite as hard, because the tumbling action breaks stuff up. If you washed foul laundry a lot, you might want the washer to discharge into a standpipe, not a utility sink like I have. The stand is rock-steady on the floor, and the machine is firmly attached to the stand. But the stand flexes a bit, enough so the upper part of the washer visibly rocks back and forth under some conditions. I can live with that, as long as it doesn't keep the machine from reaching full spin speed, or prolong the time needed to reach full spin. I think it is stepping up to full speed on final spin (unlike my W4840, I don't have a Kill-A-Watt meter to confirm it). The rinse spins aren't anywhere near full speed, but it doesn't seem to be having any difficulty, so I assume they're working as intended....See MoreMiele Little Giant leveling
Comments (15)Hard to say yet whether it's moving less, will have to get an impression over time. Why scary, though? It was well under control, and not about to topple over. Some spins start out shaking, and smooth out as RPM's increase. Others never get to higher RPM, and shake all the way through. You can't necessarily tell the difference by eyeballing the load, but the washer can tell by measuring drum speed variation. I thought this was always done with rotational position sensor, but the technical doc says it uses a tachogenerator instead. This adds an extra analog-to-digital step, but maybe Miele finds them to be more reliable? Speaking of spin balancing, I find myself doing a lot of very full loads, because I'm still using the same laundry baskets. Full loads are supposed to be better for balancing, but at some point it can be so full that the load can't redistribute enough. Then it ends up being a load that never gets to high RPM. The Little Giant doesn't spend too much time deciding this, so the cycle time doesn't stretch out much. It would be nice if the machine would indicate on the display that full spin speed wasn't reached, so I wouldn't have to get to the machine while it's spinning, or judge by feel. Have you seen any washer with such an indicator?...See MoreMiele Little Giants -- help!
Comments (18)Not to completely hijack this thread, but I also have the Electrolux EFL617 pair. And here are some of my observations... Drain and Spin is the Rinse and Spin cycle with 2nd rinse disabled. 2. The temperatures are a bit of a mystery to me. The Normal cycle at the normal soil level displays the eco-leaf and the target temperatures are lacking. Bump the soil level to Heavy or Max and the eco-leaf goes out, temperatures are much more what you would expect. 3. The dryer barely gets warm if the eco option is enabled. Clothing still dries at this setting but not if your dryness level is set to normal. Must go one level higher or max to completely dry anything. Further, disabling the eco option results in a regular heated dry. 4. The washer has a pre-wash dispenser compartment, but there is no prewash function on this machine. Not sure why that is... I haven't had any problems with either machine, but they're not perfect. Would I buy them again? I can't say that I would, but there isn't a perfect pair on the market. Every machine has a drawback and the owner has to adapt habits to make it work for them. MRB...See MoreLaura Jenkins
