Gardening time, i.e. busy time for summer starting.

It's been chilly and rainy through the spring, I looked at the ground a few days ago with a view to digging some holes to plant peas, but figured it was too wet.

Landlord's workers cultivated the gardens yesterday afternoon, so I staked, strung lines and planted last night till dark (about 9:20), got some sugar-pod and regular peas in.

Going back to it soon. I have over a hundred stakes and a mile of string to put out, then a lot of planting on the first round.

I took a potfull of asparagus to the old guys' coffee hour at church: they asked last week whether I'd brought asparagus, and when I said that I hadn't, they said that I could leave ... so I shamefacedly walked across the room and out the door. Came round to another door, to return.

Landlord said that the asparagus would likely jump when it warmed up ... and I had a large container to take to the old guys this morning - most of them disappeared.

So you'll most likely be hearing from me only sporadically through the summer.

I'm hugely thankful that I have the health and energy to do it.
