When I said refloor I meant aside from tile... replacing carpeting in the addition which was done right before we bought it but I don't like carpet in the main rooms so will be wood. Some original wood which I have to decide if I want to live with the very rustic quality (my heart says you can't tear it out, my head says, you don't have a cleaning service and it is a pain). BR's probably will be carpet or carpet squares as the floors are either in bad shape or part of the addition and just not part of the budget to do wood.

Does anyone have experience with carpet tiles? Mid range in price?

I do like saturated color. Our previous home was all color. Here our Master doesn't get much light because it is surrounded by trees and is only about 290 square feet.

I found some carpet tiles I think are really attractive but we probably should spend the money to get wood floors. i just wanted to save a little. And our "kids" are messy so I thought easy to replace.

No experience with the carpet tiles, sorry. Do you have a color in mind for wood if you go that direction? So many possibilities, I know.

Ok, here are some ideas which pull in color-color and share terracotta tones (orangey to brick red) from your tile.

The beige upholstery will be your sticking point, I think. Gotta make sure whatever you choose looks great against it so I definitely suggest liberal sampling on posterboards so you can move them around a room.

[And also move room-to-room. Sometimes a color that ends up looking awful in one room's lighting will be great in another.]

Thank you for all your responses. Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I need to figure out how to post pics of the colors we picked. I used to to do it all on my own but now my DH wants to voice his opinion but also wants to make a decision fast.

We found a wood that has gray/warm tones too (we tried out dark wood close to some of our furniture and preferred the gray) and a tile that will work for the areas that need it as we are working around some orangey tile.

We have existing furniture and tile, etc. that dictates a warm color scheme. Most of our tile has an orange tint( terracottaish) .

I'm trying to understand why you need to keep it to the warm tones, unless that's what you personally prefer? Adding in the complements can work beautifully. The complement of orange is blue.

We have a deep navy in our color scheme as well as a warm green. Just cannot go with cool colors unless we replace a lot of tile and we have a lot of flooring to replace as it is.

Doesn't the existing house have wood floors? Even if they are not perfect, just go with them. Either paint or clean them real good and put a coat of wax on them. Wood floors don't have to be brand new and blemish free to look good. And if you have most of them covered with an area rug, so much the better. A nice rug can hide a lot of sins and still clean up OK. Also would bring in a lot of color for you to work with in a color scheme.

I did that with my last house, didn't have the dough for a wood floor redo, but the carpet was so nasty I just tore it out and went with the old floor. Was great in the end.

The original does but several of the bedrooms and FR and kitchen are part of the addition. It is a very odd layout. We call it the shoots and ladders house. It has a lot of charm but the addition is sprawling and a lot of the space we live in day to day.

Here are are some images of a fall/burnt orange shade with accent colors. Some go neutral and some go more blue/green accents, and some more creme. These images are more for colors rather then style. I think you could mix the green and turquoise colors with the burnt orange and it would look nice (notice the green colors in the rug in the image above). Also grey and orange work well together. What do you have that is navy? Is it furniture or paint, or? I'm not sure how to tie in the navy unless it's really dark then you can use it as a dark almost black accent color sparingly.

So the addition doesn't have wood floors? If I had to cut costs, I'd go with a Pergo type product rather than carpet squares unless I just loved carpet.

The Navy will be on our exterior doors (yellow paint on the wood parts of the house that we can't change yet) and in decorative things and some of the matting of art we have. The palette you posted is kinda close to what we are leaning towards. I am going to take a look at that as opposed to what we are leaning to. Thank you Sara Ho, I want that rug!!!

Yes, I know. We had a burst pipe and have what my Dad would have called 5 lbs of "stuff" in a 1 lb sack. I will try to take a picture of the colors at least. I am curious what you guys think about the green with it all!

Sara Ho do you ever do online consults? I love your eye and have a few questions. I was a merchandiser for a large company many years ago but with this house I realize I need advice. Also was just now having a thought of doing the DR in Navy...

I think I am trying to decorate a home I don't live in. It is 18 rooms that are all separate. This will never be open, etc or even though it is war era be victorian it is farm house meets addition.
