Do bluebirds eat baby birds?

I have a bird house in my porch with a family of chickadees. I can hear the nestlings in there. There is a bluebird who tries very hard, over and over, to get inside the house, but he cannot, he is too big to squeeze through the small opening. What is he doing? Does he want to eat the nestlings? I have read that bluebirds are carnivores, eating many insects, and have been known to eat small lizards and such. Maybe they would eat a small baby bird?
