A tale of two Wisteria.....

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times....

One is 70 years old and the other is a runner from said plant.

I have worked trying to support the original one over the years as it had nothing on which to climb. I also struggled trying to prevent a maple tree from growing very near to it. Finally, I gave up trying to chop out the offending tree and now rim the tree as a natural support. It is sort of a revenge talks. Now the Wisteria is over 15' tall! I will chop out the upper Maple tree branches. Fortunately the flowers bloom before the tree fills out.

I replanted a sprout from a runner. It turned out to be in a shaded and crowded location but I still wanted it there. It almost killed off a Mock Orange, a lilac, and a Viburnum so I hacked it back the vines.

I just noticed that it has grown high up into a long needle pine tree and majestically looks out into my yard with hanging purple flowers. It is so cool... Too bad I don't have a good pic of this one yet
