Here is the second part of my 4 citrus trees. In another part of my garden, away from the house, I planted a 5 gallon Kishu mandarin in November. It was very tiny but in February it started growing. I gave it some 10-10-10 fertilizer and water it about every three days depending on the soil moisture. It flowered, set some fruit and has been putting on lots of new growth:

About 20 feet away I planted a 5 gallon Cocktail. It gets the same exposure, the same water and fertilizer. But although it flowered profusely and set some fruit, it really hasn't shown any new leaves and it has slowly been losing its leaves, it's now quite bare.

Again, one tree is thriving while one is not, even though the light, soil, water, fertilizer is the same. I will be putting mulch around all of these trees soon, it's on my list of thing that have to get done before it gets real hot. I'm in the interior valleys of Los Angeles, Sunset zone 19.
