Glad you like it Rina but I don't think that is a Kalanchoe luciae. Rosemarie, I have never seen the bloom of this mysterious plant,I checked out Kalanchoe farinacea and sadly this is not it. How about the one on the right, has anyone seen this before?

I did wonder about the glass jars, they are very decorative but I was worried they may not be the most suitable potting option. I will definately consider re-potting, maybe once I've done a little bit more reasearch. I am living in the South East of England, and the plants are currently on a South facing window sill. Taking your advice rina, I shall move them to a location with less sunlight until I've put them in more appropriate containers. Thank you again for the comments!

Dominique - it looks like your plant was rooted in one of those peat cells. Something like Jiffy peat pellets. You add water and they grow and are held together by a supposedly biodegradable fabric. (I have found those fabric cells in flower beds years after planting.) I once received a community pot that had all the plants in these peat pellets. It is not good for the plants, so you need to remove the peat from the plant's roots and repot using a well draining mix for your plant.

I can only ID the last one positively, it’s a Portulacaria afra variegata. Please don’t grow any plants and especially a cacti or succ in a pot without any drainage holes, and it’s not advisable to keep those glass pebbles around them either, they won’t allow the mix to dry out properly. The soil mix they’re in looks very peaty and water retaining, ideally it needs changing else you will get problems with rotting as from what you have said you are new to plants. Please change all the soil and replant in a simple free draining mix of half good quality c/s mix and half sieved perlite or similar. All need placing in a very sunny spot and the Port a. will need slightly more water than the others.
