Injuried Female Bluebird

I have a female bluebird who appears to have a injuried leg. She has built her nest (before the injury occurred), and now she cannot get to the nest to lay her eggs.

What should I do?

Do you have a wildlife rehabber near you? I am sad to say I don't. That is so sad. I can't think of a way to help the bird get to her house without opening it to predators. I also don't know how she could feed herself. Sorry I don't have any good advice :(

Definitely check on a bird rehabber. We've got a place in town. Had to take a baby there one time. Often times, they'll come to you. Sure hope she's going to be ok. Hate that!

You need to cover the window so she can't see her own reflection. She thinks it's another bird and she is trying to attack it. Very common behavior, cover the windows.

Oh, how sad. Of course you are distressed. I believe you are saying all the eggs are still in the boxes? Do you have sparrow spookers up on the boxes? The only thing I can think of that would kill all 3 bluebirds, but not eat them would be house sparrows. Are you seeing any house sparrows now trying to use the boxes?

Sure, it's normal. Often the male will bring food to her while she sits. Just give them time. Females can sometimes be quite brave while on the nest, but it's best to give them some space. Try checking the box once a week to track the progress.

Nicole!!! How I have missed you! I have 12 day olds thriving so far. Hunkering down so no cute photos. Praying for their safety. Have you caught a glimpse of your two fledges? Fingers crossed!

I had five eggs but only count four beaks so I don't know if there's another one in the pig pile or an unhatched egg somewhere.

At any rate, will be doing much better than last year if second nesting survives.
