Does your family think you are researching your Remodel too much?
Comments (39)piegirl, I admire your tenacity. We are trying to finish this remodel over the next month, (an agressive goal) because it was already pretty close to the end when I resumed it with this new contractor, or so I thought. That was BEFORE GW! Now that I know so-ooo much more, everyone is in Real Trouble! The next few months are the busiest of the year in my profession. When I resumed the idea of finishing the bath in late November, I thought we might have it done by Christmas. When I decided to change tubs, (I learned about GW somewhere in here) I was sure it would be done by January. Once I learned about Panasonic WW, Kerdi, heated floors and towel racks, February has eluded me! Ah, March through May ... my busy season. When we a photographing high school seniors for their graduation invitations and photographing their Proms, and they are 'ravenous' to get their 'stuff '! THAT'S WHEN I AM FINISHING MY BATHROOM! Pretty smart on my part, huh? :( I would have been much smarter to wait until summer, but I was fearful that something else would happen to deter me. And besides, I PROMISED my daughters a soak in that wonderful Tub! So if you guys notice me 'going a little crazy' over the next few weeks when I write in to vent, just say to yourselves, "she's gonna be awright, it's her busy season, you know!" So piegirl, if you spent 'hours' researching for a whole house over a year's time, you will be my inspiration! I will try to remember that this is just part of the process. And you're right, those victorius AHAH! moments are awesome! hamster, I laughed out loud at the "task lighting" brand of lighting products. It IS wonderful to have some place to go to ask even the simplest questions. I have a feeling that when I show my 'doubting Thomas' friends some of these posts, they will just tell me that I have found a bunch of electronic friends who are just as anal and nuts as I am! They, too, will not be invited to the "Bathwarming Party"! I think everyone who has worked as hard as we have should throw one! Mommielady...See Morewhen will you start your Easter decorating? (You too, Jim)
Comments (20)LOL, Luvs, I've been doing the same thing! I had a major meltdown on Sunday when I'd planned to decorate. Was depressed and couldn't stop crying, guess Dad's services the day before made it so 'final' he's gone and it hit me. So yesterday, I went thru our Easter inspiration album and that picked me up and got me interested. Then I looked at my own albums to see what I did last year and the year before. BIG mistake. LOL. Most of it looked pretty pathetic to me and I started to get down again. But I hauled some of my stuff out and put it in middle of table, which forced me to decorate!!! Things were going good, I thought. Then this morning I looked at what I'd done (with only about 1/3rd of my decos so far) and hated half of it. So I started moving stuff and putting away some again. Arrrgggh. I've got two pantry shelves FULL of things to unpack and I honestly don't know what the heck I'm doing! Seems I not only had my holiday decorating spirit missing so far this year, I have lost confidence in myself to do it nicely. I don't know what is going on but I wish it would "go away" instead. I'll get more stuff out and on the table and see where it leads today tho. sigh. Kathleen, I really hate how awful your weather has been. I wish I could wave a magic wand and send you ours from the past week. However now we are going in the opposite direction from you...Spring here is backing off and this week will be downright HOT. Mid 90s. That's not a good sign in March, summer will be terrible for sure. Hopefully our Spring will come back next week, I'm not ready for our good weather to end yet. hugs, Karen...See MoreYou know you are thinking too much about kitchens when...
Comments (35)Probably they used light countertops in the ad because of the contrast with the black costume and to give an overall light/optimistic "feel." I am not a design or marketing person at all but (after several viewings) I can see how carefully the ad was constructed. You all do notice that it's a GIRL'S bedroom, right? Love it. OK, I admit, I didn't really notice the countertops until the second viewing. But still. LOL at all those TV kitchens. The "pre-reno" ones are still pretty nice compared to a lot of real life ones! (Including mine.) I bet all that color in them (walls, cabs etc) is for a reason. If I knew anything about design I'd know what the reason is......See MoreJust when you think you know your city...
Comments (38)I've only lived inside the city limits of Los Angeles since moving to southern California in 1989, except for one month in Huntington Beach, when I was visiting a friend who was moving to L.A. with me. My first address was Culver City 90232, which mean that the CC post office delivered my mail, but I was actually in Palms, and so we had to rely on L.A. fire and police departments, even though the Culver City police department would call me to solicit donations, which I refused to give. Then I moved to Venice, which is also in L.A. city limits, and now I live in Westchester, also in the city limits, and if I go very far (like 10 miles) away, people do not know where Westchester is, but they do know where LAX is, which is completely within the zip code of Westchester 90045. I tell people I live in Westchester because L.A. is too vast (for locals). Culver City, Beverly Hills, and West Hollywood are all completely surrounded by Los Angeles but are their own cities, as is the city of San Fernando. I expect people to know where Culver City is, since it was the original home of MGM Studios, and I lived just across the street from there and could see the MGM lion from my kitchen window. I did tell people back then that I lived in Culver City because it was more specific, and that's what my address was. I also worked in Culver City at that time, and now my brother does as well....See MoreFun2BHere
