Washing machine-fix or get a new one?
Comments (4)In my opinion, when major things start to go it's time to dump the machine. Are you going to stay with a TL? Personally I am not fond of the FL's. I have the GE Harmony. It's an HE TL. It has some of the same features as the FL's without a lot of the grief you read about. Whatever you decide, I would not only check Consumers Reports but also the threads on this forum. I think this forum is almost a better judge of the machines because people write about real life experience as opposed to laboratory testing....See MoreSave laundry to wash with new machine, or wash before it arrives?
Comments (8)Cold only? Do the darks and save the bulky blankets, linens etc. for the awesome FL arriving- You'll be amazed how much more you can fit in the FL! I am a recent convert and (I think the LG has internal heater in the new one?) I can't believe how whites get white w/the high heat (I have the Bosch 500 plus)-you'll want to check that out!-Have fun- ps don't forget the HE detergent- you can read a ton about laundry detergent on this web- site .There are several good ones out there. With all the hype I had to try Charlie's soap- I do like it so far- just getting use to the no scent- I have to admit, I liked the smell of Tide!-Good Luck-and make sure they level it correctly!...See MoreHow To Get A Clean Wash With A Samsung FL
Comments (15)When we purchased our Samsung, I thought I had done my homework and selected the most trouble free machine that I was aware of. That was before I found out about the problems that are inherent in modern ecological philosophy. Now, I really don't know which manufacturers to trust can get the job done. You are getting a large capacity machine, I believe. That will limit your choices. I might look at the Maytag large capacity top loader and see if a model has controls that will let you adjust the amount of water and temperature of wash and rinse. But that is just a guess. Since Samsung greatly exaggerated the capacity of my machine I don't trust them. And I'm not sure if they know how to make the soap, bleach, conditioner dispenser work. Remember, they are using very little water to wash the clothes. How do they get all the soap out of the soap dispenser and still dilute the bleach sufficiently, and completely rinse it out. The difference between solid and liquid detergent dispensing on mine is a plastic piece that you slide up for solid and down for liquid. There is no seal around the edges of that piece, like rubber etc. So if the liquid is thin enough it can leak under it. Then all your liquid detergent seems to be used in the prewash cycle. It is stuff like that, along with bad performance, that soured me on it. Many others are really happy with theirs and I am a bit of a worrywart, so be warned....See MoreI thought I was getting a new machine...
Comments (5)I'm really tempted..... I do have other machines: *The Featherweight that I take to my splinter group's Red Cross sewing & also to workshops. *The basic (zig & straight) Brother that I take in the travel trailer when we go on trips. *Then I don't really count the old Singer treadle from my mom. It is in the basement, collecting dust, & never sewed well even when I was a child. I've "thought" about getting it refurbished.... But you ARE right. A new machine that can handle FMQ (& other things) IS very, VERY tempting.......See Moreilovepie
