do you like the way your hair looks when you leave the salon?
Comments (36)I love the salon that I've been going to since DH & I moved to the county we live in (over 20 yrs). The owner does my cuts, and I have had a few different stylists over the years that apply my color. I've found that the best thing you can do is to take pics of what you like, or want done to your hair (both color and/or haircut style). You can find lots of pics from all sorts of magazines, they don't have to be "hair style" magazines per se. You may see a cut or color that you like in any magazine. The internet is another good source for images or the internet to give your stylist(s) something to work from. My idea of what I want isn't always easy to explain. I have a couple of pages of copy paper with pics stapled to them that I keep at the salon. When I go in for an appointment, the gal at the front desk gets them out for me. When I want to change something with regard to my cut or color, I print a few pics to take with me. That way there is no way that what I "think" I want being lost in translation. Have to say this has been the single best thing I've done to improve getting what I want. There have been times when I've taken in a picture and my colorist or stylist will reel me in with the reality of changing to that particular style. They explain why they feel that the something I see that I want may not work for either my hair texture or shape of my face. Luckily, the people I work with at the salon have a pretty good idea of what I will or won't like, or will or won't be able to deal with on a daily basis:)....See MoreI'd like to paint my son's room...what color on which walls?
Comments (37)Yeah I heard about WI teachers and other state workers today on the news. Not sure what you think, but if taking a deduction helped keep my state from going belly up, I'd do it in a heartbeat. But that's just me, I look at the big picture and figure that doing the right thing now might hurt me a little bit financially, but in the long run it might just keep me from having no job at all. Less money for chocolate now is so much better than the possibility of no money for chocolate later. Dianalo, just do your taxes early, then don't worry and be happy. My cousins 25th anniversary was on 9-11-01. She was so excited about it, but called me saying she was so mixed about celebrating after what happened that fateful day. I told her there was nothing wrong with celebrating their love, in fact that day needed all the love it could get. We do the same thing with Christmas although my hubby always sneaks and gets me a little something. Like this year a web cam for my computer because our daughter had just left for S.Korea for a year so we can Skype. I guess I bought one for him too. LOL Funny how I didn't remember buying it. Yes, back to the room....I'd suggest grabbing a level after you make a few dots because you'll want the actual trim to be installed level....See MoreWhat "art" would you hang on these entry-way walls?
Comments (33)How about some elegant black iron scroll work? There are scads of varieties and they are often the perfect solution for a wall that needs that certain "something". (The photos are from my home.) I recommend choosing art that a) reflects your interests and b) makes you happy every time you see it. You said you can't your hang travel visas and martinis, but why not? You could frame your travel visas and arrange them under a large matte. For the martinis, you could either buy a painting or print of them or literally frame some martini classes in a shadow box. You might also consider vintage travel posters from places you love or that you've already been to. Your home is very nice!...See MoreIf you like my pet tags used as plant I.D. tags, here's a great sale!
Comments (9)Claudia, couldn't be simpler. Here are 3 photos showing the back, side view, and completed simple assembly of the 3 components of my plant I.D.: aluminum pet tag with plant name, screw post (also known as Chicago Screw, which is the name of the company I am getting these cool fasteners from), and aluminum tent stake. The Chicago Screw Co. has just come out with a 1/8" diameter screw post in brass which fits perfectly through the hole in the pet I.D. tag and the aluminum tent stake. The samples I received are just a tad too long, so tomorrow I will request a slightly shorter sample and then, BINGO, I will have the perfect components for a weather-proof attractive way to label all the hostas, heuchies, roses, etc. in my garden. It is a bit of an investment initially, but once it's done, it's done. No more relabeling plastic tags or watching them degrade. The pet tags (which are now on sale at Drs. Foster & Smith online for 99 cents---see my other post about this) come in a rainbow of colors. I simply stick to black because I find it is maximally contrast-y to read, but there's green, pink, blue, etc. available. With these cool screw posts, you just screw the screw part into the outer tube, resulting in a smooth shaft with the screw heads on both sides, neat as a pin and a very secure attachment. With the right length of screw post, there won't be any swinging of the I.D. tag or twisting so you can't read it, as I currently experience with the little rings the I.D. tags come with....See Morekerritta
