But Wait! Theres More..(Roses)
Comments (12)Kathy ...had an enjoyable time this morning looking at your roses. Very impressed with the Flickr Slideshow. Worked really well for me, and quite attractive presentation as well. I think I may have to look into switching over there. I really don't understand how you can grow organically and have such gorgeous foliage on all your roses...lol. The Squire has quite a pretty pattern to the blossom. Loved the last rose. Really wasn't one in the bunch that I didn't like. Which is the most fragrant for you? pm2...See MoreA big, honkin box o bounty from Katie in Idaho!
Comments (19)Wow Katie that is an amazing swap box. What a wonderful bounty of home canned items. I love the idea of indonesian satay sauce, the huckleberry jam, jalepeno pepper jelly and the soup. I tried to make that soup last summer and had canner problems. Since then I have been afraid of making it. The box would have been awesome with just all the home canned items. -Robin Here is the Blueberry Lavender Jam recipe along with notes on canning it Blueberry Lavender Jam 2 tablespoons dried lavender flowers 1 11 1/2- ounce can frozen white grape juice concentrate 3 cups fresh blueberries, washed and drained 1. Make a lavender sachet: Cut a piece of cheesecloth into a 6-inch square, place lavender in the center, and tie into a bundle with kitchen twine. Cook the jam: In a heavy saucepan over medium heat, bring lavender sachet, grape juice concentrate, and blueberries to a boil. Stir constantly to prevent burning until the berry mixture jells -- about 20 minutes. (To test whether mixture has jelled, place a teaspoonful on a plate and let cool to room temperature. Lightly touch the berry mixture with your finger to see if it has consistency of jelly. If not, continue to cook for 10 more minutes and check again by using the same test.) Cover and steep for 2 hours. Store the jam: Remove the lavender sachet and discard. Divide the jam between 2 pint jars. Cover and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month Note: To modify it so I could can it I just simmered it with the lavender for 20 minutes than removed the lavender (which I had in a teaball). I also made one where I soaked the lavender overnight in the grape juice, yuck too much lavender....See MoreWinging its way from Washington (and over to Exchanges)
Comments (48)Okay, my camera finally has found its way home so here are the pictures I promised! First is a jar of Tayberry Jam. Still unopened, but not for long: Then a jar of half eaten Caramel Spice Pear Butter (too fabulous!): This bag of Mukilteo Happy Hippie coffee looked a lot better before I opened it. I wish you could smell the aroma! I recommend it highly: And here is my wonderful cookbook. I truly love it and have carried it to work a couple times so I could have it with me to pick up ingredients: Here is the very best item. The beautiful handsewn without a pattern apron. Notice the pretty scalloped edge: Here it is from the back so you can see the careful binding around the edge: And -- get your tissues out -- read this wonderful label Terri sewed inside!: And here is the whole wonderful package. You can also see the darling kitchen cloths Terri used to wrap the jars of Jam and Butter: I am typing this with sticky fingers because I am licking pear butter off of them. I am down to the bottom of the jar now. Thank goodness Terri posted the recipe. This was a wonderful swap box and I just can't thank Terri enough. Thanks too for your patience in waiting for the pictures! Pam...See MoreBack Bacon Meets Baby Backs
Comments (17)OK, the car story is funny. When I heard Sharon & Clive were driving route 66 in a TBird convertible, I was thinking it was a '57 or perhaps an early 60's model. (my dad was/is a collector, I just assumed theirs would be an older model.) So I thought it would be fun to borrow one of my dad's cars for the day, to fit in with the whole Route 66 thing and park next to theirs. I'm almost to the restaurant, and I call Sharon to ask what year their car is. "2002". LOL!!! I laughed at myself and my incorrect assumption for a good 5 minutes....See Moreaprilscott12
