After the storm ...

I'm a bit blue today. My small garden beds have been beaten up pretty badly by the recent storms. I think we got about 10 inches of rain here in a matter of hours. The little cat I left outside, hoping he could manage on his own, was found in his chrysalis, washed away and crushed. I brought him in and put him in the freezer as I couldn't leave him to the ants. I'd put a sleeve over the swan milkweed and hoped he could survive under there. The wasps and spiders didn't get him but the storm did. Another little guy on milkweed under another sleeve is just gone. I can't find him anywhere. I wonder how many of the first generation Texas cats were washed away in the storms?

Young milkweed, beaten out of the soil.

So much better off than the poor folks who got hit with the tornado's and flooding, but it still depresses me.

I would never make a farmer.

Mary
