Comments (19)Friday I went to the Mancuso Quilt Show in Savannah, and today I cut the remainder of the medallions and melons I need for the double wedding ring quilt I started then set aside last fall. I realize now, after setting this aside, then deciding that I want this to be a queen size quilt rather than a lap quilt, that I needed a lot more medallions and melons. I was fortunate to have overbought, but unfortunate to still be short by 3 medallions. Luckily, I found the fabric online at a FL store, so Monday I will call them to order enough to complete the quilt. I'm almost finished piecing the arcs - 254 arcs total. Am on the last lot - more than 1/2 way through too. My goal for April will be to get through dsd's wedding on Tybee Island April 11 and then finish piecing this double wedding ring quilt. And not go crazy between our new-build- construction and the wedding. oh, big news that I almost forgot to mention, I'm heading back to Savannah tomorrow to pick up the Juki ti2000 that wanted to follow me home! Called the rep today and paid for it, so will pick it up tomorrow! Woohoo. Sharon, don't know what your relationship is to Katie, but very happy to hear that she's beating cancer. It's a wicked disease, and it's amazing and fabulous that she's beating it. Theresa, hope your eyes are better quickly. Marji...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? June 29-30
Comments (12)Got home from TN RV trip late Sunday, was a 13 hour drive home, got lots of crocheted/ribbon bookmarks made that day, a good trip though. Yard guy came and cut grass earlier this week and he weed-whacked one of my daylilies, but thankfully it had already finished blooming for the year, oh well it will come back from the tubers next year. I cut grass and weeds inside my large back yard flowerbed this week. I collected cosmos seeds, took some flower pics, then bent to collect some canna seeds and darned if the cosmos seeds didn't fall out of the small cup I had them in in my pocket, so now I have cosmos seeds scattered in amongst some of my daylilies and as wet as it has been this summer who knows maybe they will grow and bloom by this fall. Thursday started hand-quilting Christy's grandbaby quilt and have gotten about 17 hours done on that in the past 3 days, plan to take it on our AR RV trip. I did not work on crocheted lace yet on last trip, I decided to wait until after I have it fully hand-quilted and binding sewed on so I will know my exact measurements for making the lace so hopefully can do it in 2 to 4 segments and then connect them all when done, I was hoping I would have her quilt done by beginning of August, but at the way things are progressing and with RV trips looks like it may be September before I finish her quilt. Hubby got a new RV temperpedic type mattress yesterday, so hoping we sleep much better on future RV trips. Once this new mattress airs out next week, I gotta start packing and loading for our AR RV trip. Hubby is wanting to go, go, go RVing this summer since he had surgeries last 2 summers, so I am only getting to work on quilt projects in short spurts. So I plan to spend most of Sunday afternoon hand-quilting Christy's quilt. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend. Best to you, Sandra...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? May 29-31
Comments (10)Lois, What pattern will you be using on this quilt that you'll be learning new techniques? I have no doubt you'll do an awesome job of it, no matter what it is. My sister-in-law has always been a hard worker and had vericose veins for years. Her legs had been hurting lately but she just contributed it to getting older (67). Unfortunately, it was blood clots, they ended up in her lungs and it was serious. She lives by herself and had passed out. Long story short, the doctor had never seen anyone recover from how bad she was and usually people die from less. She is still in the hospital, though in a regular room now and able to be up and walked a little bit yesterday. She is off the heart monitor and oxygen and will probably go to rehab in a few days before going to her daughter's (who had rotator cuff surgery a few weeks ago). We've all been wanting her to sell the big old farmhouse with 5 acres and tons of lawn, but she was stubborn and couldn't give it up. Guess she won't have a choice now. The thought crossed my mind that I should make her a comfort quilt. She has made a few quilts......mostly big ones, but, I think I will....See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? April 29-May 1
Comments (14)Linda, France is so wonderful. Try to relax and enjoy it as much as possible. This is a lovely time to be there. What part of France will you visit? Is this your first trip there or a return visit? I'm so sorry that all the work of disposing of your mom's house is falling on you. We did that in 2009, but my sister and brother also helped. Sharon, I've had the 2.5" and 4" squares all cut for months now. Sometimes I just sit and work up the fabric combinations without sewing at all. I have started sewing two a a time. That does help. I haven't timed it, but I bet I can get two done in 45 minutes. I suppose if I did four at a time, I would save a little more. I'll just have to be very organized so I don't get confused. Trimming all those hourglass squares does take a lot of time too. Sue, I can't believe all the snow you're getting in Colorado. We have kids in Denver, so I follow the area weather....See Moreloisflan
