Are you quilting this weekend? March 29-30
Comments (19)Friday I went to the Mancuso Quilt Show in Savannah, and today I cut the remainder of the medallions and melons I need for the double wedding ring quilt I started then set aside last fall. I realize now, after setting this aside, then deciding that I want this to be a queen size quilt rather than a lap quilt, that I needed a lot more medallions and melons. I was fortunate to have overbought, but unfortunate to still be short by 3 medallions. Luckily, I found the fabric online at a FL store, so Monday I will call them to order enough to complete the quilt. I'm almost finished piecing the arcs - 254 arcs total. Am on the last lot - more than 1/2 way through too. My goal for April will be to get through dsd's wedding on Tybee Island April 11 and then finish piecing this double wedding ring quilt. And not go crazy between our new-build- construction and the wedding. oh, big news that I almost forgot to mention, I'm heading back to Savannah tomorrow to pick up the Juki ti2000 that wanted to follow me home! Called the rep today and paid for it, so will pick it up tomorrow! Woohoo. Sharon, don't know what your relationship is to Katie, but very happy to hear that she's beating cancer. It's a wicked disease, and it's amazing and fabulous that she's beating it. Theresa, hope your eyes are better quickly. Marji...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? April 1-3
Comments (10)Since last weekend I have finished quilting 4 small charity quilts and have another one sandwiched. I hope to get the one that is sandwiched quilted and finished this weekend. We have dinner theater tonight and friends coming over tomorrow night, so that cuts into sewing time. I may have time Sunday afternoon to get the borders on my One Fish/Two Fish quilt and get it sandwiched. Gosh - that sounds ambitious! Sue...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? May 28-29
Comments (25)So sorry for your loss Donna, my thoughts are with you this week. Toolgranny, I love your quilt. The colors are just great. I have been deep in flowers and yard work amongst the constant rain, which we never curse in SK. I started a new flowerbed last fall of strictly lillies and a few iris and one new variety of Shasta daisy that grows 24-36" tall. They all grew and I am anxious to see them flower this summer. I have done 3 string tops and one I really messed up myself. I was using a minkee type backing and after I spray basted the 3 layers, I forgot to add pins to secure it while I quilted on my domestic machine. I thought it was a write off but I managed to selvage it with only one spot having a couple puckers showing on the back. I going to take another break now!...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Comments (16)I'm excited to have found a longarmer just 15 minutes from my home and will be delivering two tops with backs to her on Saturday. Last week I picked up the first one she finished for me, and it's beautiful, so I hope to get the binding on this weekend. I'm naming it a Rose for Lauren. I'll post a pic as soon as I finish. I hope to continue on another scrap project, that I occasionally pick up. It's a small paper piece block, so I need lots and lots of blocks to make a quilt of any size, but I'm loving this old project if only to clean out scraps. The not so focused pic shows the first dozen and I have another doz or so finished....it's a long term project, but a relaxing one a few blocks at a time. Happy sewing everyone!...See Morecarolnv
