First New Stand Photos
Comments (11)Again, thanks for the compliments. It is amazing how much better these look on this stand than on the old plastic ones. Shelves are adjustable and you can get extra shelves for around $20.00. While wheels don't come with it you can buy them separately. I bought everything at Lowe's so if your store doesn't have the extra shelves or wheels you can order them. The maker of the shelving unit is Real Organized. They have smaller units, too. Also come in black or white. I also bought a tabletop light fixture from Indoor Gardening Supplies (two T-12, 40 lamps). I took an old 55 gallon wood aquarium cabinet and hubby nailed boards across the top. I keep my supplies in the cabinet so they're convenient but out of sight. I'll post photos when unit comes in. Comments (7)Based on the info so far I think it is far more a matter of timing rather than just "a matter of preference". Unless you happen to live where pests like stink bugs or hornworms, splitting or cracking, or excessive temps, etc. are never an issue. :) Every year the forum is inundated with questions as to "why are my tomatoes splitting" and the answer is always the same - pick them at blush/break and it won't happen As to how long inside, do you mean if you pick them at blush how long does it take them to ripen? Same amount of time as it would outside - 7-14 days or so depending on the variety and where you put them inside and the degree of blush when picked. If you mean how long if you pick them when already fully ripe then you only have a day or 2 max inside before the fruit flies take them over because the center of the fruit is already going over-ripe. The best way for you to decide when you want to pick your fruit is to try picking at several different stages and see which works best for you. Dave...See MoreFirst Blush-2014 SE Texas
Comments (15)Deebie The tomato is still o the vine. As a result of my cancer, I have difficulty in swallowing. It has just been in the last month that I have been able to eat really soft and smooth foods. I have getting all of my nourishment by a feeding tube and Ensure. It sure is nice to eat beans, applesuace, pudding,,mashed potatoes, cheese soup, and others. Every new bite for me is a new taste experience and is exciting. Two years ago, I weighed over 349 lbs. I got down to 180 lbs a couple of weeks ago. But God has other plans and I have been able to gain 9 lbs this past week. It is amazing how fast your body forgets how to swallow, and how fast it can come back. I am truly blessed to be able to write this today and tell others, I am cancer free and You can be too. I have great doctors at MD Anderson. Twelve rounds of Chemo and 12 weeks of radiation and we beat the cancer. The recovery has been slow but gardening has truly helped' My goal is to pluck a cherry tomato off the plant, plop it in my mouth, bite down, and experience that tomato explosion in my mouth. I still get upset at myself at time but a little "time out" in the garden definately helps. Please keep posting about your tomatoes, becuse I am so anxious to learn more. I did plant some herbs for my winter garden....See MoreFirst Blush - Early Photo
Comments (11)He he he, I can't see that...I don't see "wet shiny", I see dry shiny but thanks for pointing that out, Donna. I'll look it up again and study it some more...like L'Oreal, "it's worth it"!...See MoreDelawareDonna Zone 7A
