Update on my garden (pics)
Comments (10)Thanks everyone. My neighbors garden is horrid but he is an old old man and was recently in the hospital for 6 months he actually planted some flowers in his yard the other day i guess he was feeling bad about his garden after we planted. Hes a really sweet man so I dont make problems for him. I've included a pic of what his yard looked like last year. Its been weeded since then. I'm kinda freaking out a bit about my boxwoods because the leaves are turning yellow and bronzey orange in places It isnt a lot but its on quite a few of the plants I think I may have overwatered them. Its also been raining the past 2 days and expected to rain for 2 more. I hope they make it. Id feel terrible if i killed them....See MoreJust an Update on my garden.
Comments (6)Thanks everybody. Yes it is all roses but the program only gives you limited plants to work with in the trial version so I had to use begonias to represent white roses LOL. We are still a ways off before being able to plant. We will put the buxus in the ground in November and I think the roses will go in the following autumn. Currently we are working on clearing the land. We dug out 6 tree stumps from that tiny front yard LOL. Someone also thought it would be a good idea to dump a ton of rocks into the ground and then cover it up with dirt making it impossible to put a shovel in the ground. So now that the tree stumps are out we are taking the rocks out one by one. Its tedious! The buxus is ridiculously expensive to buy in the size I actually want them to be in so I will be buying smaller versions and give them a chance to grow before I plant the roses. The difference in price by doing this is immense. If I bought them in the size I want them to be it would cost 1800 Euro (roughly 2100 dollars) but If I buy them in smaller sizes it will only cost around 640 Euro (roughly 800 dollars) Anyways glad you guys liked my design. The original design had the buxus in an octagon shape in the center and the four corner boxes had an angular row (see picture) this really limited the walking space but looked nice. I still havent sold my husband on the new design yet lol but i'll talk him into it unless he manages to talk me out of this one....See MoreOctober 2012 garden updates: what looks good/awful in your garden
Comments (22)That's awesome euqruob! What do you do with them? Are they fruit like or veggie like? I'd love to see/hear more! It's cool for sure! Here's a rescue adenium that I picked up for just a couple of bucks early this year. It was terribly abused and had gotten stuck in the holes of its cheap plastic pot. No leaves, no blooms, and virtually no soil. Now it's got a ton of leaves (and a nice pot after I cut away the old plastic one) and blooms. I really like the peppermint look of the fancy double flowers! Here's some Merremia dissecta ("Alamo vine" or "mile a minute vine") that I got as seeds from old Mr. Baker at Baker Nursery years ago. This spring I planted three seeds at the base of this 6 foot tall iron obelisk/armillary and they have quickly consumed it. Talk about house-eaters! The vines are covered early summer through very late autumn with nice morning-glory-like blooms that stay open well into the afternoon. Full, hot sun (yes even here) and fairly regular irrigation keep these vines looking great, and blooming. Take care and happy gardening! Keep the fun updates coming! Comments (14)Ok, I will try to get some more sunflowers to add to the mix, they are one of my favorite flowers too. I have made 4 bags for the seeds: Vegs, annuals, perienials, vines and bushes - just for eaiser digging. Now I know I probably misfiled some things - so make any changes. Myann sends to Marie Garner WY who sends to Marjorie AR who sends to Melinda AR who sends to Carol Bea WA who sends to Theresa Florida who sends to Mary Ellen IA who sends to Tina Roll IA who sends to Deb IL who sends to Jan MI who sends to Myann MI Mkruby we will add you in after Jan once your packages have received. Fair enough? Please use delivery confirmation just to avoid problems. I attached one to each of the mailing labels which I put a number on to keep up hopefully in order... THANKS and we are on track - not giving up on the robin yet! But I was tempted - spring is coming whooo hoooo Very sorry for all the troubles....See More- 7 years ago
