Why does my Michelia Champaca loose leaves?
Comments (4)I'm up here in the Bay Area, and mine is in a pot. I had a similar experience until I started fertilizing, mulching with compost, and watering it more regularly with an automatic drip system. I've since seen a great improvement. Still drops some leaves, but the tree looks much much better. I'm no expert on it, but that was my experience-- feed more and water more. I water mine 3 times a week for 1/2 each time. Of course, mine's in a pot. Oh, and I've also been getting more flowers,so that was a good point too!! Good luck. :)...See MoreWhy do I hear a loud drip/knock noise on the uppermost floor?

Comments (3)My two guesses: Condensation & dirt. Or condensation & rust. Insulating the duct will help with the condensation. Also check to make sure there is a backdraft damper & that it is functioning. i.e., not stuck open...which it could be because of an accumulation of dirt, lint, etc....See MoreVent hood condensation drip--is this a thing?
Comments (16)@worthy, I know this is off-topic, but believe me I can surprise you even more. The vast majority of houses here have no sewer vents - none at all. A tradition or lack of knowledge, whatever (this is the Old World), because you won't find the vent in many posh villas of older date. Usually, there's a kind of a vent in the floor, which is supposed to serve as a collector of water (in case of a flood), but it behaves as a vent because it is the only spot where the gas can come out without obstruction. This house had no vent when we bought it, too, and the guy who was responsible for the first phase of the renovation even asked us why would we want a sewer vent. Now, the guy who installed that pipe swore that methane wouldn't be able to go down, because it's much lighter than air, and the fan is "protected", whatever it meant. (Plus the damper, plus we almost never turn on that fan.) Anyway, we plan to insulate the attic and find a better solution for that pipe in the process, so let's hope we won't explode till then. I mean, I shouldn't have mentioned our "solution" at all, because I know it's a no-no, so please take my moment of sincerity as a kind of a cultural exchange. :)...See MoreMichael Lamb
