Can't Decide about Quartz on my Island

Last year I put quartz (LG Viatera White Pearl) on my perimeter counters. I have an inexpensive butcher block on my small island (base 24" x 48", top 36" x 52"). I liked the simplicity of the butcher block and have been fine with it, though it does add more wood. I also thought the quartz on the island might be too busy in my small kitchen.

However, I saw my neighbor's new kitchen and she has a similar quartz (LG Viatera Aria) and a large peninsula - and it looks great. I have been saving up a bit of $$ and found out today that my quartz is on sale through Saturday. I assume it will go on sale again, but now I am really thinking about this. From a distance, the quartz is calm, but up close, there is a lot going on. Do you think it would be pretty, or too much?

Also, will I need supports for the 12" overhang - and it won't be more because there isn't space and we do fine with it the way it is.
