My oldest sister's 50th wedding anniversary. Ideas? Gift obligati
Comments (8)Great ideas, everyone! Pbrisjar, they wanted to have a BBQ at home too. Now they think it is at their daughter's house. She thinks they will freak out at the cost and they do not intend to tell them. She is letting them think that until a couple days before. They are not fancy, have buried both sets of parents and have more than they need. She's always trying to give stuff away (nieces, nephews, kids, etc.) She is my mother's daughter - "everything should be put to good use." They have a modest home in Mexico and modest home here. When they aren't in Mexico or here, they live on a boat in Canada. They would think flowers were a big waste of money. LOL! A cake may be nice because we all could enjoy but I'm hesitant to ask the restaurant to serve the cake. It's the kids' party and I don't want to seem like I'm taking over, YKWIM? If it was going to be at someone's house, I'd do a cake in a heartbeat. Great idea. As for this couple, they still drive the Toyota they bought (used) when the kids were young (it's immaculate). You could say they live life to the fullest, between their camper and boat, and two *very* modest homes. My sister cuts her hair every three months, so when she cuts it, she cuts it very, very short. :+" My sister thinks my house is fancy and it's always a work in progress. Comments (7)One of my friends is making a signature quilt for her son and his wife-to-be who will be married in October. Here is what she is doing: ~ she bought a light batik fabric, cut squares, pressed on stabilizer, used a decorative stitch to outline an area on the square where the wedding guests are to write ~ will take the squares to the wedding reception and pass them out to the guests with Pigma Pens for them to write words of congratulations, advice, sentiments, etc. during the reception ~ she will have a display board set up with sample blocks written by her family members ~ the quilt will be made and given to the couple after the wedding; a batik border will be added and any other elements that the quilter wants to add. This weekend she made a small wall hanging to give to her son and new DIL as her gift to them since the bed quilt will not be ready. Teresa...See More'Garden in my Wedding' pros and cons
Comments (10)Donna that's what I plan to do, I bought kiddie art paper and it feel thinner than the pattern. It's only 3 different arcs. Yep Sharon I'll whip right thu it lol!!!!! I think it will look great scrappy too with the melon the same fabric to tie it together. I don't think it will be difficult but it will be time consuming. I plan to hand applique 'cause my machine applique is the pits. I also have the twister template from an older book. It's cute but I don't know what I would use it for lol!!!! I got distracted by a Christmas tree that is made up of 8&1/2 scrappy blocks. The shape of the tree is 8&1/2 HST with a holly leaf appliqued on them. Really cute!!! I dug out all of my Christmas fabrics to see what I have. easily distracted Rosa Here is a link that might be useful: Christmas tree...See MoreMemorable wedding gift ideas....
Comments (25)We attended a wedding last year; it was at a lovely seaside hotel. I sketched a view and framed it as a gift (but many places have/sell cards, drawings, etc. that might make nice framed gifts) either of the venue or church. Was also thinking to screen print (they can digitally print on fabrics now) the latitude and longitude of the wedding location (kind of an outdoor sunbrella type fabric pillow) ... but that could be engraved onto a glass or cutting board...so its a bit subtle but a memento. Congratulations an hope its a great fun summer!...See More- 7 years ago
