Hiya Cyirra and all, Congrats on the blooms! They're really, really lovely! I don't have any of the yellow/gold types so it's really fun to see yours. What conditions are you growing yours in? I still have the one in these older pics ('Dark Marie')--it's in my den right now and is budding up nicely (and making a couple of early blooms each week too). Here's a pic of one of the early blooms from this week, it will make its larger flush in a month or three. I've gone a bit overboard with Christmas cacti over the last couple of years, but they're so durable, and they love it here (indoors) and they bloom regularly for me (although often not until mid to late winter) so why not, right?? Here's a pic of a small rescue plant I got two years ago as an utterly wilted MESS with only five segments. Some bright light and occasional water have helped it revive. I left mine out with the last cold front, it got down to 34 with a windchill of 24. I didn't bring anything in. They all did fine, lots of buds and blooms. BUT, if it's going to be below freezing you might want to drag them in. I bring stuff into the house but it's not heated downstairs unless we're down there so the temps can get to freezing but I've never had any plants damaged. The really tender ones, like the seabeans that I sprouted, won't take any cold so I bring those up where there is heat. Stay warm and good luck! I'm sick of winter! Isn't the reason we live in the south to avoid freezing? Tally HO!

thechinski, Yes, will upload a few pics. The plant is not as big as you might imagine. We've kept it in check over the years. It measures about 29 or 30 inches from one side to the other. It has been in the same kind of potting medium for years. About 1/2 soilless potting medium and 1/2 perlite. It has thrived and grown very well in this type of mix for many years. I know it will probably be recommended that I add some grit to the mix. I may do that the next time I repot. But I have resisted the urge to play around with it's growing mix because it has done so well in what it's in now. It was repotted about a year ago, in the Spring. These first two pictures are where the one trunk/branch simply broke off. It was very dry where it broke, even though the rest of the plant is fine (except where the other one broke, which was farther up). I don't have a pic of the actual part that came off because I tossed it when it came off the other day. The segments were too wilted to fool with trying to root them. But, over the years, I have started many new plants by rooting segments. These next two pictures are just 'fun' pictures. The first one shows a branch where the segments are in different stages of transitioning. And the second picture shows the pretty shrimp colored flower this plant has. This season has been the longest blooming season this plant has ever had. It started blooming in September, slowed by December, then started again and came into full bloom starting in January. As of now, it is still blooming.

Pls amend your soil to make it faster draining, like by adding equal amount of perlite. Soil as dense & wet as looks to be on those roots can rot the plant completely. If you plant it UP, leave the lower segment in the soil & shake the soil off the in btwn area. Generally speaking, to pot up cuttings of this, I'd try 3 segment pieces, it works better.
