Beautiful! This is something other than heart-leaf vine (P. hederaceum/oxycardium/scandens.) Compare to P. verrucosum.

IME with similar sections of similar NOID-non-heart-leaf Philos, they're not terribly picky about repotting. I got a pot with several stems that were similar to yours and repotted some at the same level, some deeper, chopped some into smaller pieces, & ended up with new growth from all.

h-hm..it looks like Ph gloriosum? it is a vine that grows in the soil and it does have a good size trunk just under the surface.

your leaves are very young - so veins won't be as pronounced as on the mature plant.

Oh beautiful! Ok thanks! My search for a Ph cordatum still continues but this is still a beautiful plant I've split it up a bit and am attempting to root it in water. I'm in Tropical North australia so vines grow like crazy up here!

i'd think that instead of water it'll be better to root it half buried in moist perlite or long fibre sphag. the cane might rot in water.

i rooted Ph. subinsicum cane with 2 juvie 7" leaves and the cane about 6" long and 1.5" fat. i put it horizontally in loose peanut shells, sterilized: nuke in microwave 4 min with some water and cool. and some small amount of LF sphag to keep moisture. tented, of course. so very loose substrate.

but even that kept rotting the cane end. So i finally turned it in such a way, as to stick the end out in the air to keep it dry. it finally callused after sev weeks.
