Beginning of the season here...
Comments (12)Thanks all, for your comments. Dianna, I will save Todd Monroe for you. In fact, I'm sending you an e-mail. I just went out and counted the fans - there are 6, but three are increases for this year. Only two scapes came up, with about 8 buds/scape. It's been in the same spot for at least three years, and I was expecting more out of it! Juliet, No, I don't do anything to keep the leaves looking healthy. The only thing I do to my plants is add plenty of compost or well rotted manure to the planting hole. After that, they're on their own. I do mulch every year, with whatever I can get my hands on, usually compost from a local area where we can haul it for free. I must say though, that B E Stella is planted in a berm, making for great drainage, plus we've had incredible amounts of rain this season. Kathy and Lrae, Glad you like Aztec Firebird. it's supposed to be 36" tall, and a ML bloomer. Why it's blooming NOW is beyond me! Oh, wait - I know why. It came from down south - Marietta's! Next year here, after it settles in, it won't bloom til late July. Betsy, I'm hoping French Lingerie turns out to be a great performer. Glad you like it. No more DLs bloomin', but have tons of buds formin' Meantime, I continue to feast my eyes on the continuing show you're all providing! Julie...See MoreBlizzard 2013 (begin thread here)
Comments (3)We might have less than a foot here just north of Concord NH. It's still snowing but hard to tell since it's just getting light out. I can see the plastic high tunnel (with peaked roof) is still standing (love being able to pick spinach and beet greens this time of year). Still need to order fertilizers and seed potatoes but garden seeds are ordered and will be here soon. It's cozy at our house since we heat with wood and the power is still on. Yesterday afternoon when we were glued to the computer monitor to watch live feed from an off-road race in CA, a small flock of turkeys flew past with about 3 veering off to roost in the tall pine behind the house. Another flock was still in the field waiting to take turns flying up into the pines along the west side of the field. We don't usually see the flock flying together like that....See MoreHere we go! Comments (2)Hi. The inside of your house looks a lot like the inside of my house. I have a new closet that has about the same configuration as yours, but mine is finished and has bypass doors. I also borrowed space from an adjoining bedroom to create the closet. The contractor built shelves in one half and there's a rod and shelf in the other half. I like it and can't wait to move into it. My old bathroom was demo'ed and is now being drywalled. I can finally get a sense of how it will be laid out when it's done. It is my only full bath so I am going over to my mom's for showers or washing in the kitchen sink. Thank heavens there is a powder room on the first floor. Good luck with your new bath. It looks like a wonderful layout, and it's fun to see the pictures. Cute little boy, too!...See MoreBack and Overwhelmed But Here's a Beginning
Comments (17)Well, thanks for missing us. Yes, NICE, it was THAT enjoyable, to make me want to go back. All the airport hassle, getting those cowgirl boots off/on, draggin' the heavy shrine back cuz I couldn't lift it, digging for ticket/passport while ROSIE was ahead, yelling for the old lady to hurry, the humidity and hair problem, especially blowing in the open windows of the taxis, looking like death warmed over cuz I didn't want to give up and take an afternoon rest stop. I have to find juuuust the right workshop in order to go back next year. It's a magical place. YES - my brain is still on overload. Going to Lowes today to get supplies to make a semi-copy of the Tisha Moore wannabe piece, and the stockings from screen. Wanna make the crown too. Wish I could learn to weld. Wanna do some metal art. Already ordered the Linda/Opie O'Brien book on that subject. So many things to do and so little time. Thanks for the welcome back. We missed y'all too....See Morejim1961 / Central Pennsylvania / Zone 6
