What do you feel are the best places to order daylilies?
Comments (22)Every time there is a question like this I always answer that my favorite place is Ridaught Daylilies in Florida. I'v ordered from several different places over the years including Maryotts and Oaks Daylilies. Ridaught has absoutly the most healthy and largest plants I have received from any vendor, by far. I love their selection and the prices are the most reasonable I have found and the shipping prices are also reasonable. Some vendors have what looks like reasonable prices but when you get to shipping charges on the order page it's like yikeeeeees, way too much. Ridaught also sends very generous bonus plants and customer service has been excellent........so what more can we want, I'v already placed my order for spring, looking forward to getting started....See MoreLow-end purchase: Lowes? Comments (11)bayareafrancy, should have picked up your location by your name. I'm in the southbay and they use Central Valley Appliance here. Not sure if eastbay or peninsula are different but it seemed very disconnected. The people I talked to on the phone seemed nice enough but it was pretty much their schedule or nothing at all. We already put up with day long appointments for a 30minute job and now we're expected to put up with them switching days? I think not. Also the guy that showed up was bordering on rude and literally dropped is toolbox to the floor from about 2 feet off the ground. Check out Atherton Appliance (peninsula) or Airport Appliance (eastbay). They are not exactly "low end" but they've been pretty good when I've worked with them. I used University Appliance in SJ once and the guy they referred me to messed up a tile cut, duct install, and couldn't do a cabinet adjustment that took me less than an hour to do myself. Mind you this was not just an "installer" but kitchen contractor who was supposed to be able to do all this work. The other option is to find a local handyman and have the store deliver and them install. I know several people that go that route and have very good experience because they've formed a relationship with they person in the house doing the work. Good luck....See MoreSoapstone island install - not the best. What would you do?
Comments (33)joshua, I appreciate your comments as you are THE soapstone guy around here. Fancy a visit to Halifax? How hard would it be to refinish the backside - I understand this would be the best way to get book matched slabs. Does he need special equipment to do this or is it a function of time and sanding the correct way? In speaking with the soapstone supplier, they indicated getting 2 slabs that are back to back in the same lot is not difficult. Theoretically then, one could get slabs that could be book matched with refinishing the other side of one slab. Joshua, could you give me your opinion on where in this island you would place the seam? If you had book matched slabs would you do it in the middle of the island or would it depend on the pattern of the stone? Ideally in a quiet area? I don't expect every little vein to match. As someone noted, the veins at the top of the seam are a pretty good match but that only covers about a quarter of the seam and the majority of the seam is not well matched. This is on the side of the island where you sit (and hence look at a lot) and where people first come up to the island when they enter the kitchen. My kitchen is also very bright with a great amount of natural light - to the immediate left of this end of the island is a glass slider. The veins and seam in the stone are bathed in light most of the day. I fully expected to ok the soapstone before the install. With the quartzite counters I held up the fabrication for 3 days because I couldn't get there to see the planned cuts. I was as surprised as anyone when he said it was all done and ready to be installed! I didn't even know it had arrived. I thought he would let me know when it arrived and then I would arrange a time to go out and see it. He is a good hour from me. Apparently he does not routinely allow people to see the planned cuts. In fact his words were - this is unheard of...guess he hasn't been dealing with too many tko people :) At the end of the day the world will not come crashing down and I am sure over time I will become accustomed to it. The perfectionist in me cringes when I look at it though....See MoreWould you use this? FSBO Consultant-I help you sell by Owner
Comments (37)Good for you that you get to keep 80%...but I'll bet that 99% of the time is off the 50% commission. I would get approx.1%- 1 1/4% off a 2.5%-3%, it being a full 5%-6% commission. Then there were ALL the bills...the NAR, the local, the websites, ....the cont ed....etc. THAT ate a lot of the money. My point is that the consumer can get the best help while NOT paying a whopping 6%. Ummm, yeah, the realtors BOYCOTT FSBOs. I doubt that my experiences were unique...An example: as a buyer wants to see a FSBO, the realtor tells them that the FSBO house is a bad house(unless they pay a commission)...low and behold as soon as the FSBO gives a listing to a realtor, the house becomes "a gem" lol "And do you really think a buyer is going to pay $50 / showing? I showed a buyer 10 homes the other day..." buyer, seller how ever you want to structure the system. But see? If you got paid $50/per showing you would have $500 in your pocket, and YOUR time would not have been wasted. Only serious people would ask to "have the doors opened for them". The 2 things that many sellers need help with is showings and negotiations. The rest is paperwork and babysitting. Oh, the elderly may need online marketing help. If I were to pay 6%, I would EXPECT the realtor to take over the sale of my house completely. That means, stage, clean, WORRY about getting the best price, and actually negotiate THE BEST price for me, and not their commission. For 6% I want to be in Tahiti having Margeritas, while the realtor has "my headache"...lol...See MoreRelated Professionals
