The CCC stands for China Compulsory Certification and the number under the CCC tells who made the glass and the specific certifications the glass meets. Curious if you have a safety logo on any of the glass? Since it's laminated you don't technically need one, but an inspector would normally require a certificate stating that you have certified safety glass in the door. Typically in residential applications the glass labels (logo's, bug, etc) are on the inside glass surface of the window, readable from the interior of the home. These may very well be installed backwards if all of your labels face outward. On the pictures that I sent, labeled side 1 would be intended to face outward, exterior of a home. Conversely, labeled side 2 in the picture (which in glass-speak would be called laminate surface 4) would face inside the structure. Most LowE coatings are designed to be applied to glass surface 2. Glass surface 2 is inside the laminate (or IGU) opposite side 1. Glass surface 1 and 4 are "touchable" while glass surfaces 2 and 3 are inside the laminate (or IGU) and when using any 2, 3, or 4 silver layer coating, the coating should be on surface 2. And this the same for both laminated and insulating glass (and that changes when you have a triple pane IGU or a laminated IGU, or especially a laminated-triple-pane IGU...but not going there). And yes, coating application surface does make a difference both in performance and aesthetics, and this is a consideration in both laminated and IGU applications Make sense?

The white glob on the house is my lame attempt to blur out my house number. After 12 days of rain and no gutter on the garage overhang, the wall is covered in dirt. The point is, the windows look as dark as sunglasses during the day in cloudy or sunny weather. Highly reflective during the day but at night you can see in from the street. Yes there is a green cast but it is barely noticeable due to the dark tint. I will attempt to attach 2 photos. The door in the photo is my old door. Not impact. Laminates are so much pretty these days and have improved on their quality and durability. I worked in a showroom that had 3 desks done with different Wilson art colors from the Carnival series. The seams were almost invisible. The tops are made differently as well so she won't have to have that corner ledge either - the top can be one level back into that corner. I can't tell you how many people would say " ooh look at this granite" and then would see when they got close that it wasn't- some still had to ask though. Go on their websites and order a couple of samples... that way you can see them against the cabinets. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.. Good luck!

As WoW pointed out, air infiltration is your number one concern. The window and install must be as airtight as possible. I am a bit surprised at an STC 33 in that configuration, I would have expected something a bit better than that. Fixed and casement will be a bit (or more than a bit) better than double hung or sliders simply because they close tighter and have better air infiltration numbers. Also, outside of infiltration, the width of the gap between the inner and outer lites is the most important consideration. Wide = good, narrow = bad, and anything 3/8" airspace or less = very bad. And while different width glass in a dual pane will improve sound performance, my experience it that only applies when using non-laminated glass. I have never seen evidence that proves that using two different glass thicknesses in a lami unit is any better than simply using two of the same thickness....in fact while a single laminated unit consisting of two lites at 5mm each ( 7/32"x2) and a .030" interlayer has an STC 36, a laminated unit using different thickness lites at 3mm (1/8") and 6mm (1/4') with a .030" interlayer will have an STC of...36.
