Danby Marble for Island (Can't See Old Postings)
Comments (8)Hello! Thought someone might like to see pics of my Danby marble island countertop, since I think most of the old thread with pics of my kitchen in them are lost forever. Danby Marble "holds up" just fine, but I find it chips much easier than my perimeter countertop, which is Ceasarstone "Raven". It also etches incredibly easily, and not just with the things you'd expect. Egg white even causes a mark. I don't mind/care anymore and just cook on it. We haven't gotten around to having the entire top "honed", which is an easy expense to put off, and meanwhile, the more I cook on it, the more etches all over it gets. Zero stains, which is awesome. I've left everything on it at one time or another, even tomato sauce for a bit. No stains. Love how it looks and have no regrets for installing it. Happy to help w/any questions!...See MoreSeriously...I am going to cry
Comments (9)Thanks ladies :) i knew you would understand. Dotz, we have been trying for awhile now, even before we were married. I temped & charted for a looong time. The Billings Method is an extension of that--it's paying attention to, and charting things like cervial mucus, temps, etc. Unfortunately, my/our issues are my tubes. So even with us perfectly timing intercourse, my right tube is totally out of commission. I CANNOT get pregnant if I ovulate on my right side. I have a better chance on my left side, but there is some minimal scarring there, as well. It's about 75% open according to my RE. So technically--I CAN get pregnant on that side and probably WILL at some point. But considering the fact that a woman only has a 25% chance each cycle, even with well-time intercourse, AND considering the fact that I can only get pregnant roughly 50% of the time when I ovulate (since it has to be from my left ovary)---the odds are stacked against us. Not to say it can't and WON'T happen naturally...but it could take years. :( It is very disheartening, especially since my DD was a snap, oops pregnancy! :) One thing that just floors me is when people say "oh, give it time, you are so YOUNG." Well---I get what they are saying but it annoys me nonetheless. First of all, I am not THAT young. I'm 28. Secondly, my DD will be 7 in a few weeks and SS is already 7. If I got pregnant TODAY, they would be almost 8 by the time the baby is born. With every month that passes by, the age gap gets wider and wider. I never wanted to raise my children separately. THAT makes me sad. And that's why it annoys me when people, albeit well-meaning ones, say "oh, you're so young...why rush?" SIGH....See MoreI can't post a picture! Errr, please help!
Comments (31)NOOOOO, I still can't do it! UGH, so frustrating! However, I think I know the problem now, but don't know how to fix this. A lot of my photos are word docs (docx). I know crazy! But, when I see a picture on some website that I like for my house...which is most of my pictures...I just copy & paste on a word doc! It's easy & works for me. Until I want to upload it here! So, I'm dragging the picture on my desktop to iphoto, like a few of you have said to do. But, I get a message saying my picture is an unrecognized format. Which is probably why I can't upload from "Photo" below here, as well. I vaguely remember at one time a few yrs ago, I did convert my word doc pictures into a jpeg format. But, for the life of me, I cannot remember how I did that. Rococogurl, you mention jpeg....would you happen to know how I can convert the word docs to jpeg? Or, am I just out of luck? leela, how fun to go visit Alberene Soapstone. It is gorgeous stone! That picture of that building is beautiful! I'm glad you figured out how to post pictures! I'm keeping my fingers crossed someone will have pity on me & keep helping me!! :)...See MoreYes, I know I'm crazy, but I'm looking for another rose.
Comments (14)I can't wait to see pictures of Maggie. Love the name. If you wanted to try another DA rose, I have had great success with Pretty Jessica which laughs at the heat, is upright and stays small but tall for a DA rose. I would say mine is about two to three feet wide, if that and about four to five feet tall. Constant bloomer. Next one would be Princess Alexandra of Kent but give her room to grow. She is a beaut! Flowers bigger than my hand in spring and fall. Smaller flowers in the heat. She takes a beating and keeps on ticking! Next would be Munstead Wood. Love, love, loveo him. He also takes the heat. All three have to be the best DA roses I have seen for the heat. Now, that being said, my first timer roses that have been in the ground about six months (if that) and on their own roots, that seem to be doing pretty well for me are also Lady of Shalott and Alwick. They are both babies and being subject to full sun all day long and until this week, 100--110 degree heat. Both are producing sporadically with tiny flowers but their leaves look good and they are continuing to put on new growth. I think once they get established in a couple of years, they will be fine. I hope Lady's flowers tone down the orange a bit in the future. Another rose, still very young and on its own root that seems to be doing well is Occhi di Fata. It is starting to put out a few more blooms and the growth is good. It is a charming rose and I hope for great things in the future....See MoreLaura Labianca
