I had a water test done by Kar Laboratory on 11/01/15. All units are mg/l unless otherwise noted. Calcium was 7., iorn ( mostly ferrous) 3.78, Akalinity (as CaCO3) 40, Hardness 1.4, gpgPH 6.5 and TDS 72. I had a 1.5 PH increaser with vortech tank and 5600SXT fleck valve installed on 02/23/2016. I had a water test done again on 04/18/16 and the iron was down to 0.45, Akalinity had increased to 134, Hardness increased to 7.4 gpg , PH increased to 8.1 ,TDS 182. On 1/24/`7 I had water tested again 1/24/17 the PH had decreased to 7.6 iron was the smae TDS increased to 200 hardness was the same. Although the tests indicate a dramatic decrease in the iron content, there is s red staining in the toilet bowls and the hot water has a reddish cast to it. The suggestion was made that I put in a 48,0000 grain water softener with a vortech tank and 8% cross inked resin to deal with the water hardness and what may be clear water iron. From reading the discussion board on this stie it is my impression that it is better not to have a vortech tank and that it might be good to use the SST 60 resin. The house has 4 bedrooms , 3 /1/2 bathrooms one with a tub. There are between 2-3 people living here. There is a private casing depth of 105ft , total depth of 305 ft, total gpm of 5 gallons, static level is 36 , depth of piump is 175ft Pump is 3/4 and the service flow rate is 10 gallons. I would appreciate any suggestions as to the water softener size. thank uou. Alexis Maxwell
