Someone in another thread mentioned a product (like a wax or polish) that you put on the stainless steel that keeps it from smudging and showing fingerprints. I believe the poster said it worked very well. Not to mention that some stainless just doesn't smudge up easily. Some stainless also takes magnets, so it's worth testing it all out first. If something is recently discontinued, you can probably find a unit that's already been shipped and is in some store's inventory--or sometimes even the manufacturer's--that you can get a good deal on, besides the feature you like. I can't be sure what your priorities are from your post, but unless you really really want that deli drawer, I'd say that the look and surface are more important. My reasoning is that the lack of drawer or loss of other space will only annoy you when the fridge is open. The wrong color or surface material will annoy you every time you look at the unit. :-)

Carmela39 The ice issue is not a problem if you intend to use the dispenser as you described. It is not convenient to just put your hand into the ice tray to "get a handfull", otherwise it operates like any other auto icemaker/dispenser. The cabinet vs full depth is an appearence issue if the grey side of the cabinet is unappealing to you. You will see a full 6 inches of the painted side and additionally the half inch or so of the door gasket and then the depth of the stainless door with the full depth Samsung refrigerator with 24 inch deep cabinets (standard). Recessing the rear wall as I have indicated is the option many have taken (I was unable to do this since I live in an attached townhouse and this was the attached wall). If your contractor suggests this will be difficult I would defer to him (the issue is more than making the wall a few inches narrower). Regarding the availability of the reported CD Samsung french door model I refer you to the posting "Please Help- French Door Refrigerator Questions" on 7/18/07 at 16:11. Within this thread (near the end) is a posting by Britter making reference to the "new CD model". There were additional inquiries as others are also interested in this model. I would suggest contacting your dealer or his factory rep. for more information/verification. Finally, I have some photos of my installation but I am unaware of the method of posting/sharing them. Not sure about the "Consistency" of my good friends advice here. First He recommends the SZ, by now most folks know about the copper problems(2004-2007) that contributed to their bottom ranking by Consumer Reports--even one of their marketing guys admitted that. He or another SZ type also said that another reason for the low rating was they had a 2 year warranty, instead of a one year. Now I don't know bout you, but I don't get a "warm fuzzy feeling" knowing that enough SZ's needed warranty work in the 2nd year to contribute to their low reliability ratings. We haven't seen these types of posts recently regarding SZ problems--so--I guess we can assume you feel they corrected the problem/problems and hence you recommend. Take a look at recent posts about Elux Fridges (within the last year or so), most are now positive---so why not "Forgive and forget" like you do with the SZ. I, in fact, had recommended not buying Elux Refrigerators, due to the earlier posts, (alto I'm very happy with my other Elux appliances)----Now I am keeping an open mind, due to some of the imformative posts by the Ladies above! We can learn a lot from these Ladies (Above), if we keep an "Open Mind" Cheers! Gary

EngineerChic, My old reach-in freezer crapped out on my and I picked up a new one 2 years ago. This 4th of July with the huge wind storm we had, I lost power for 3 days. I didn't open that thing out of fear. After the power came on, I ran to it and opened the door. Imagine my confusion when everything was still frozen! Not even soft! And I can tell you, when I freeze bread, and most everything for that matter, I forget I have it. I've definitely had bread in there for more than 6 months without any freezer burn. It's a self-defrost (of course) and so far, just fine! So when I go "shopping" in my freezer, it's like a brand new experience. Imagine, "Oh! Look at that! Butter! and steaks! and Hotdogs with BUNS!! I love hotdogs! Who knew? Anyway, everything's beautifully frozen and I can see thru the containers. (No frost.) I try to label and frequently succeed. But I have no bad words about this baby and it's work ethic. If I'd know, though, I'd have bought taller and skinnier. That's all! Congrats on making a choice, Laura. Really, if we're honest with ourselves on how we are not how we want to be, we make the best choices for our situations.
