Best 36" counter depth fridge for less than 3K?
Comments (12)I was excited to shop for a new fridge for our new home build, until I actually started shopping. My current fridge is a GE Profile SXS in white and will be relegated to the garage at the new house. It has served us well but I need SS counter depth and I want a built in look - no ice/water in the door and no SXS. I love the sub zero and it fits well with my cheffy aesthetic and mindset. But, out of the budget at 9K. Leibehrr is very nice and a good alternative but again too spendy at 5K. Also, we would have to modify the upper cabinets to install a taller fridge. Too many other things yet to purchase with our new house build. But definitely the look and function I am going for. I also wanted a single door but not readily available in counter depth and freestanding models. I actually considered a fridge only single door model(love all the space for the fresh foods I cook with) and could live with a freezer in the garage, but living in the central CA Valley, we would miss the ice. Then I thought we could install an ice maker in the kitchen but again, the cost factor and uncertainty of where we would install it - it is a new house but not custom and we would have to retrofit it somewhere in the kitchen(BTW if anyone has done that please chime in....) I narrowed it down to the KA, Jenn Air and Viking SS CD French door models with internal water dispenser. They are essentially the same inside - all made by Whirlpool - with minor differences including the handles and the KA and Viking have removable liners on the door bins. Viking is the cheapest at our appliance dealer($2899) and I like the looks of it with the pro handles. Jenn Air is $3249 with $300 rebate and KA pro handle style is $3199. Viking carries a 3 year warranty which is very good since we tend not to purchase extended warranties. We will be moving in the end of December and need to decide and buy a refrigerator soon. I appreciate all the information I get on this site!...See MoreBuilt-in refrigerator for 30-inch deep counters
Comments (7)Unfortunately I can't recommend a specific refrigerator for you. But I wouldn't want to waste that 6" either. I have counter depth Sub Zeros at home (36" wide, one all freezer, one all fridge). At my vacation home I purchased a standard GE refrigerator and since the kitchen is small we recessed it a few inches into the wall and built out the one cabinet next to it a few inches. There are cabinets above it and on the outside is a floor to soffit panel that matches the cabinets. It certainly isn't the same look as my built in Sub Zeros but you sure can't beat the price and the look isn't bad at all. Most of us grew up with standard depth refrigerators and I don't think you'd lose track of items that are in the back. Plus you can still fit a large pizza box or large serving platters in them- and they don't fit in a counter depth unit....See MoreRefrigerator: 36 inch, counter depth, energy star rated
Comments (10)We just purchased a KitchenAid counter depth french door model with bottom freezer and water dispenser inside the refrigerator. This model is slightly taller than others and offers more space in the fridge and freezer. It is engery star rated with an annual estimated energy cost of $41. Very good for this size unit. The model numbers in this series start with KFC and is one of Kitchenaid's newest and most energy efficient models. We like it....See MoreSub Zero Stays, Best Counter Depth, Bottom Freezer & FAUCET?
Comments (8)WOW, Thank you all for the Lowe's Coupon resources! We will be using them soon, no doubt! Guess we should be filling out the change of address, this week. We are moving almost an hour away, so this is not an easy move for us! So many recommendations for the Samsung, will have to get to the city and see these, this week! We currently live in the country and it is time consuming and lots of gas to go Anywhere - and our Grandchildren have all moved to the city, so we are following! Traveling over the snow and ice last year really convinced us and we were missing too many events with them! fabb - your Jenn Air sounds wonderful, also - where did you purchase it and what is the approximate cost? How did you decide on this brand? I am so used to the single door and the freezer on the bottom that I did not even consider any other styles - but lots of you have the French Doors! Is it difficult to open the French Doors while you are holding the item to be put into the Frig.? We will only have a small counter next to the Frig. But I guess that I can learn to juggle! Please keep posting all of your ideas, moving day is just 5 weeks away! Need some suggestions for the best way to PACK all of this household!! We will need a large moving van for furniture, large heavy boxes and patio swings, etc. But all of the clothes that we do not want get dirty, do we just pile it into the car and make multiple trips? And, of course, he is packing our wedding china very carefully and these kind of precious breakables will also have to be taken in our car! But how do you pack ALL of the Kitchen, large food Pantry and Bathroom/Linen closet items!! Oh and there is all the stuff in the office, yikes! We will be so happy when ALL of this is UN-packed and we are living to just visit the children, go to work and walk the Dogs!! Any Ideas for making the move by organizing and for ALL the packing to go smoother are very welcome! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. roseofblue...See Morerhome410
