2 30' vanities instead of one 60'?
Comments (5)In our remodel, I was expecting the architect to give me a double vanity. Instead she gave me two. In my layout I am able to have them on different walls. Even though the bath isn't in yet (we're at the stud-stage) I am a fan of separate vanities. I like the idea of having my own space and my DH has his own space. I have seen photos of two vanities next to each other (with some space between) and it is a very nice look. When I go to the link, it lists all the vanities Costco has to offer -can you link to the one you are considering?...See MoreMaster vanity - one sink or two?
Comments (8)After much conferring and also reading the input of people on another home site, I think I've come to a conclusion! I'm going to put in one sink centered in the vanity and leave the area plumbed for two. When I sell the place I can point out that it can be converted to a dual sink vanity by replacing the top. That's a minor job, really. I saw a vessel at Home Depot tonight that's an amber color glass with a textured pattern on the outside for $69. There was a clear one for $99...odd. Amber is a nice, warm color that I've used in some of the lighting in the halls and living room. I'm not sure if that would be overkill, though, because the shower will be slate. Possibly too much 'dark'. I think vessels are neat, but I think they give the illusion of less counter space because they hide the area around them. Not to mention the need for a tall faucet, which frustrate me because I want a nice oil rubbed bronze finish. Tall faucets seem to be limited, still. Thank you for all the comments! Everyone had some very valid points to make. My mind is at ease, finally....See Moretwo sinks or one sink for bathroom vanity?
Comments (3)It's a rental. With that in mind, my go to choice would be an undermount. Second would be a drop-in. Never ever would I put a vessel in a rental. Do consider that if the vanity was designed for a vessel that any intrusion below the countertop might interfere with vanity storage. Draw functionality, etc. One sink versus two? If the bathroom is small, that might lead you to one sink. One person washing at a time, more counter space, etc. Plus, with your budget being tight? One sink will save you. If you think you'll have trouble renting this place and you think you might need an edge, or if you're renting to a couple/family, then two sinks could give you an edge in a tight rental market. Sometimes it's all about the bling. Just make sure that before you go the two sink route that the vanity itself can take two undermount sinks, or two drop-in sinks, PLUS the plumbing, without completely losing the functionality of the top bank of drawers in the vanity. If an undermount will cause you to lose storage, then I'd minimize the amount of lost storage by going with one sink....See MoreBathroom vanity mirrors; one or two and lighting
Comments (7)Thanks all or your input! I'm going with two. Two is what I originally thought but then fell in love with the PB Astor Double-Width Mirror (a 58" X 40 beveled mirror framed with beveled mitered pieces of mirror). It's the only large mirror that fit the idea I had in my head for how I pictured the space with "one large mirror", but it seems to have been discontinued on PB and there is no duplicate to be found (I even went to a glass store to see if they could make it and they cannot). So two mirrors it is. My base tile that was on backorder (giving me more time to work through all this) gets installed tomorrow so now I just have to figure out/order the lights....either overhead, or sconces that would be squeezed in. There will only be 6" of space next to the right-side mirror so I'm leaning toward overhead....See MoreJudy Mishkin
