I'm going to move on, but not before saying that again, you've not understood the advice given. The suggestion by me and others didn't ask you if other devices had ever been connected in the past. The step was - connect one now. That's what you're trying to do with the disk player and it isn't working. So, try a different device. If it works, the problem focuses on the disk player. If it doesn't, then maybe it's the router. You've also not said if you've contacted Sony tech support. With that, i find there's nothing more to say or do to help you. Maybe you need to find a friend or family member to help you in person (and to read the suggestions you've received).

Please note: HDMI to RCA cable is designed to connect and transfer signals from HDMI port to RCA port. This cable functions as a signal transmitter, but NOT a signal converter. As HDMI carries digital signals while RCA carries analog signals. In order for these two formats of signal to communicate with each other, both input and output devices needs to support the signal conversion function (code and decode), please kindly check with your user manual. If both input / output device do not support signal conversion, a signal conversion box is required.

I've never had any problems with any of my Current DVD Players, playing any DVD's (Newer or Older). We have 2 x Sony 5 Disc 5.1 Surround Sound Systems (All-in-One) and a Philips DVD Player, all are older units, nothing New. None of these players are capable of playing the Blu-Ray Discs! Many, Many years back, we had a GE DVD Player (our first DVD Player). We ran across one DVD, that no matter what we did, it wouldn't play Disney's "The Kid" with Bruce Willis. This was a Brand New DVD Player and the DVD had just been released. We retuned the DVD 4 x before finally giving up on it. I even went as far as taking the GE DVD Player to Wal-Mart, so they could see that the DVD wouldn't Play. It played on the (their) Same Model GE DVD Player on the store shelf, but wouldn't play on mine. This DVD Player was a Gift and wasn't purchased at Wal-Mart, so I couldn't return it to Wal-Mart. Never did try returning it, it played every other DVD just fine! We do however have an LG Blu-Ray Player that we just started using this past summer. Hooked it to my New Sony 5.2 Surround Sound Stereo Receiver. We also have 2 Sony PlayStation 3 Gaming Consoles (1 x Fat and 1 x Slim) that have Blu-Ray Players Built-In. BTW, Blu-Ray is Backwards Compatible and will play all your DVD's.

Yes streaming apps is not their focus. On the 203 they included a 4k HDMI input so you can stream your Roku/Apple TV, Firestick etc through the player and not lose an HDMI input on your TV. The used to have the 103 and 105 priced similarly when they came out with these blu-ray players.
